The Road (Deluxe Edition) by Tricia The Road (Deluxe Edition) by Tricia
I really enjoyed it.  I was hoping it would be along the sound of some of her Superchick stuff (Breathe & Crawl), I love the Cello and sweet purity of her voice and I was not disappointed. ...

I had no idea who these guys were ... but from the first pluck of a string, I had a feeling I would like them. They sound like a mix between Jon Foreman on his Seasons EPs, a little Tenth Avenue North...

Not bad ... Better than I expected | Posted February-06-2008
The first time I actually noticed Sanctus Real was when the "Face of Love" hit the radio waves. The melody soared on that song and I couldn't wait to hear what else they were made of. I remember listening and feeling disappointed that they didn't sound anything like their "Face of Love" single. So when I started listening to this one ... I figured another disappoint. Though their sound is still not what I am expected. The soaring melodies and lyrics calling for change and togetherness within the church ... definitely tilt the balance in their favor. Their album message is amazing and very true we need each other". It comes in the midst of the beginning of a new year where strife is very evident amongst congregations and life.

My favorites are: Whatever You're Doing & Lay Down My Guns, Half of Our Lives

I was amazed at the lyric in Eternal, though simple it caused me to stop what I was doing and listen. It compares the pitfalls of marriage with humans to the marriage of God. "And I could never lose Your love to sickness, oh I could never lose You to divorce, and there's no concept of abandonment, for I am safe within Your arms."

As the album begins to close ... the songs soften a bit, as if leading you to a quiet close. But SR surprises you with an upbeat song asking to leave a legacy more than just a fading thought ... but leaving those we touched with a fire in their own hearts that will continue even after we die. :)

Great concept guys!

Winter ... Beauty in Dying | Posted February-04-2008
This album invokes in you a sense of loss. But nevertheless it is still as beautiful as Fall. The lyrics intertwine hope with uncertainty, love with death. Its very subdued and it deals with loss in its many forms ... from a person's life coming to an end, dying to self, to a relationship coming to an end.

The saddest song on the album by far is ... "Somebody's Baby." It's the story of so many peoples' lives. It pricks our very souls ... and in a way it softens them because knowing that she/he is someone's ... means she is worth something. And somewhere someone is mourning the loss of this unknown ... definitely in heaven, she is someone's baby girl. It makes me want to cry ... for the vast sense of loss ... not only for the people who knew her, but for her. She is many people ...

With "White As Snow" ... there is a spark of hope after the utter hopelessness of "Somebody's Baby." It's a cry in the dark ... for help.

In "I Am Still Running" ... it speaks of not giving up. You didn't expect it to be this way ... but you know your only hope of surviving is shelter in the loving arms of God.

"In Love" ... has a asian, middle eastern flavor to it. It's like a taste of spring in the dead of winter. And it leaves you with hope. The song ends as if God is telling you ... its time to awaken. " ... my love, my bride, my love
This cross, my love, is mine, my love, to bear, my love, it's time, my love"

Over all this album is soothing with its acoustic sound. The lyrics are open and honest; they cause you to think about your life or the lives of others who cross your path. I can't wait to see what spring brings :)

Fall - Breathtakingly Beautiful | Posted February-04-2008
Wow ... I fell in love with this album immediately. The minute I heard "The Cure for Pain" ... I was hooked. I sat in my room with the lights out and just let the lyrics swirl around me. It is like catharsis for the soul. Amazingly stirring ... and it pulls at you. There is a sense melancholy in this album. And when it ends it leaves you with a sense of hope ... somehow. It is definitely breath taking.

It's like listening to the autumn leaves. Their beautiful as they are dying ... but yet you know that after the beauty comes death ... and it leaves you with a bittersweet feeling in your heart. But nevertheless there is hope ... because you know there is new life in spring. It just leaves you thinking ... as it ends with "My Love Goes Free."

Just let go and fall back ... the lyrics are a beautiful balm for the soul. It has a folk sound to it that is so inviting ... daring you to bare your soul.

Addison Road ... What a Surprise! | Posted February-04-2008
I honestly didn't know what to expect from Addison Road...I wasn't very excited. I just thought, "ok, another Superchic[k]." I figured it would be another teeny-bopper CD.

Surprisingly, their lyrics go deeper then your average Christian band. But from the very first line in "This Could be Our Day" a smile just spread across my face and I was hooked. It's a great anthem that could go be any youth/young adults groups theme song.

"That's All that Matters" ... is another good song about finding your identity in Christ and letting His love be all you need.

"Sticking with You" was a bit bubble gummy for me but its catchy.

"Hope Now" ... though simple, sticks with you. Its more of a ballad but still good. It's a song about faith ...

Ah "Starting Over Again." I love songs that continue to progress through out the song, building and building. And that is exactly what this song does. The song speaks of getting back up after falling ... and take that first step to starting over and changing. So it's pretty cool that as they speak of building your life again ... the musicality is building also.

"Run" was a pleasant surprise. I expected it to be fluffy ... but it wasn't and I loved the message it gave. About running towards God and not looking back at what you have left behind or used to be.

Overall ... I really like Addison Road. I'm going to listen to their album as much as I can before it disappears tomorrow. The icing on the cake was when I read their biography and discovered their mission is more than just making God music ... but leading people to the feet of Jesus. Telling the world all they know about the Loving Savior. "This Could Be Our Day" is the anthem of the lives and it is what they want to do. And that in itself is enough for me! Addison Road will be on my MP3 player as soon as I buy the album! Such a pleasant surprise :)
