Mary-Clair is a 21-year-old singer-songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee, known for blending heartfelt storytelling with a dynamic mix of faith, love, and self-discovery. Writing songs since she was 10, she has developed an authentic voice that captures both life’s ups and downs.
Her music varies from uplifting and energetic to deeply thoughtful, exploring themes of perseverance, trust, and finding peace through love and faith. With a talent for emotionally connecting with listeners, Mary-Clair keeps creating songs that remind people they are seen, valued, and—above all—enough.
That message is fully realized on her debut album, Enough, which was one of my top 10 albums of 2025. One of the key “it factors” I listen for when selecting favorite songs and albums is emotional impact, and Mary-Clair consistently delivers it. Tracks like “Heaven in the Way,” “There’s A God,” and “Falling” all moved me deeply.
If you enjoy catchy, scripturally grounded songs with relatable lyrics and edifying messages, Enough is a project well worth your time. I recently had the opportunity to interview Mary-Clair about her song “There’s A God.”
Please share the personal message behind the song.
“There’s A God” is a song that speaks directly to anyone carrying hurt or feeling unseen. It expresses an unwavering sense of hope and shares the same truth I’ve written about in many of the songs on my album, Enough: God knows your name, feels your pain, and meets you right where you are.
The song stands as a testament to finding God in the details of life, a personal declaration of His enduring love, and an encouragement for others to recognize His constant presence, offering hope in a world that often feels overwhelming.
Please tell me about any Bible verses that connect to the song.
2 Corinthians 6:18 (VOICE): "'And I will be for you as a Father, and you will be for Me as sons and daughters,' Says the Lord, Almighty."
Matthew 11:28 (NIV): "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
1 Peter 5:6-7 (NIV): "Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you."
Psalm 40:17 (VOICE): "Meanwhile, I am empty and need so much, but I know the Lord is thinking of me. You are my help; only You can save me, my True God. Please hurry."
Lamentations 3:22-23 (VOICE): "How enduring is God's loyal love; the Eternal has inexhaustible compassion. Here they are, every morning, new! Your faithfulness, God, is as broad as the day."
John 14:6 (NIV): Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."
1 John 3:18 (VOICE): My little children, don't just talk about love as an idea or a theory. Make it your true way of life and live in the pattern of gracious love.
Ephesians 2:1 (NKJV): "And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins."
What's the takeaway message?
"There's A God" is written for people searching for God, love, and meaning. I wanted to create something that feels real and raw, yet hopeful. I poured my heart into this song, and I believe it is as relevant today as ever, both musically and lyrically. This song reflects my journey and calling to guide young people, especially girls, toward faith through relatable pop music, inspired by witnessing a child's worship and emphasizing God's presence in life's struggles. Sometimes I listen to it and think, I can’t believe this is me. It feels too good to be true.
Lyrics
In your loneliness
On your darkest day
When there's nothing left
And the hope seems to fade
Do you wonder if there is more than this
When you're longing for what this world can't give?
There's a God who knows your name
There's a friend who feels your pain
There is someone who will sit with you when the whole world walks away
There's a God who's reachin' out
He can heal your heart right now
See His open arms full of love that will not stop
There is hope 'cause thеre's a God
Have you tried to fill
That spacе inside
But you come up short
Every single time?
Did you ever think it was made that way by Him?
Maybe all this ache is to help you understand
There's a God who knows your name
There's a friend who feels your pain
There is someone who will sit with you when the whole world walks away
There's a God who's reachin' out
He can heal your heart right now
See His open arms full of love that will not stop
There is hope 'cause there's a God, oh
When you're wandering through the desert
When this world don't feel like home
Can you hear His voice from Heaven
Say you've never been alone?
There's a God who knows your name
There's a friend who feels your pain
There is someone who will sit with you when the whole world walks away (Walks away)
There's a God who's reachin' out
He can heal your heart right now
See His open arms full of love that will not stop
See His open arms full of love that will not stop
There is hope 'cause there's a God
Closing Thoughts
“There’s A God” has become my personal anthem. I sing along loudly, inspired by its heartfelt lyrics about submission. I appreciate how prayers and praise songs serve as shared experiences that unite us and bring us closer to God. I believe the Lord desires us to yearn for heaven while cultivating a personal, meaningful connection with Him.
When the Holy Spirit dwells within us, our relationship with the comforter deepens, and a peace beyond understanding begins to take hold. This peace stems from the awareness that our life isn't solely directed by this fallen world. As His children, we are called to carry God’s love wherever we go, trusting in His constant presence. I often reflect on and sing this song to God, and it consistently brings me comfort.
A song like “There’s A God” beautifully conveys comforting truths, surrounding us with God’s joy in hearing from His children. It illustrates His love for us clearly. Regardless of your location or actions, God will seek you out if you sincerely call on Him and seek His grace. Even after salvation, we sometimes blame ourselves for our shortcomings and feel unworthy of God’s love—but that’s exactly the point. We are not worthy, and grace is not something we can earn. It is a gift of unmerited favor from God to His children.
God communicates with us through His quiet, gentle voice. As believers, we must find time to “be still and know that He is God.” Are you open to the Holy Spirit working in your life? Are you listening to His guidance? He will set you free.
In a world full of uncertainty, we need the reminder that God is with us and we are never alone. At any moment—any hour of any day—our Lord Jesus is present. This involves surrendering every part of ourselves to Him, trusting in His goodness, and allowing His blood to cover and flow through our lives.
When we trust in the Lord’s power instead of our own, we are strengthened by His supernatural grace. God loves you deeply. Rely on Him, and He will give you strength.
“There’s A God” is my heartfelt declaration and daily praise to the Lord, regardless of circumstances, doubts, or worries. As Christians, we are invited to accept the freedom offered by Jesus' cross—liberation from fear, addiction, insecurity, and perfectionism. Jesus died for us so that we can truly live in Him.
You can pray along, “There's a God who knows your name/There's a friend who feels your pain/There is someone who will sit with you when the whole world walks away/There's a God who's reachin' out/He can heal your heart right now.” Amen to that.
