Things have changed noticeably in the time between I Wish We All Could Win and this album. The worshipful lyrics found on that last album have been scaled back in favor of more modern lyrics. That is not to say that this album is bad, it's actually better than their debut. The Afters have a more poppy vibe to them now and their songs now feel more complete in a sense. This slight style change also incorporates some different elements here, from a Beatles-inspired track to a U2-esque opening track to the last track which lyrically is very much like the movie Inception. (In the sense that the lyrics are very open to interpretation.) This album is better than the band's debut. I can't wait to hear what they have in store for us next.

I had heard of The Afters years ago but ended up forgetting about them until now. It seems like I was missing out because this is one great debut album. The best way to describe their sound would be that it sounds very similar to pre-We Need Each Other Sanctus Real. This is also a very well written album with lyrics that emphasize God's love for us. This is a very good debut from a band that I have heard have only gotten better with time.

House of Heroes set the bar pretty high when they released The End Is Not The End. That album was basically perfect in every way shape or form. Now comes their new outing Suburba. While not as awesome as The End Is Not The End was, it's still a pretty good album to help close out the summer. There are fun songs, there are serious songs, and there is a song about Lost. This album blends together the House of Heroes from their last album, a bit of the Beach Boys, and just a splash of Muse all into 47 minutes of music that your ears need to hear. Lyrically, this album deals with our teenage youth and issues they go through like love and independence. Some memorable tracks include: "Elevator," "Love Is For The Middle Class," "God Save The Foolish Kings," and "Constant." With fast-paced guitars, multi-layered vocals, and fun songs, this album is a perfect fit for the summer months.

This is a better album than Kingdom People. It's better produced, better flowing, and better lyrically. Tedashii avoids the sophomore slump by providing us with a clean and crisp album that is also very Christ-centered. This time he takes on the metaphor of non-Christians feeling like they are going through an identity crisis. (Hence, the name of the album.) Throughout the music we get inspiration from Tadashii's lyrics and the confidence to go out and testify. Great beats and a wonderful flow makes this album one of the best rap albums I have heard this year.

I only recently came across Tedashii and in that short amount of time, I have become a fan. And for a debut album, it's on par with other rap albums both christian and secular. The beats dropped here are very well done and his Christ-centered lyrics fit in well with these beats and are also very well written. The songs on this album end up taking us on a journey to discover just who the kingdom people are. I believe the ministry that Tedashii is on will bring many new people to Christ. So much emotion is found here, and this is only his debut album. There is still another album of his out.

Before they became famous with their album An Ocean Between Us, As I Lay Dying released this little gem. It's a great album to listen to and the lyrics are just as thoughtful as their other releases. I don't know what else to say about this album. You've got your basic insanely awesome riffs, pounding double bass pedals, and growls. Fans of As I Lay Dying should strive to own this album and fans of metal in general should pick up this or another album by this band and be blown away with how insightful their lyrics are about the different emotions people have and the ways to keep those emotions from turning you into a mess.

5 years and 12 books later, the Books of History Chronicles concludes with Green. Green serves to bring the Circle Trilogy, the Project Showdown trilogy, and the Lost Books series together and Dekker does that very well. Characters from all of those books appear in Green and are all vitally important to how the events play out. Ted tells us in a little forward that he envisioned a series that would be circular (meaning the last book would end where the first book began hence creating a circular story,) which is no easy feat to pull off. But Ted managed to pull it off and offered us a satisfying conclusion to the events that were built up in the previous books. The ending will probably divide some people into a love it group or a hate it group. I personally loved the ending. My only complaint is that I did not like the way how Ted chose to just stop events happening on present day earth. This ends up bringing up a big plot hole that doesn't get resolved. Green ends up being a very good conclusion to the series that put Ted Dekker in the minds of many people. Even though Ted says that people could read the books in any order, I would personally suggest that The Circle Trilogy be read first and Green last.

In my mind Philmont is another one of those bands that seemed to come out of nowhere and wow me with their musical style. Their debut EP Oh Snap really got me excited for a full length album. Well now that full length album is here and it continues the amazing style that was introduced on the Oh Snap EP. Every song that was on that EP is on this album and they are placed well in amongst the 7 brand new songs. Some people would probably be put off by the fact that Philmont sounds just like any other pop punk band, and I agree with that, but this album has everything that makes that kind of album enjoyable to listen to. It's got catchy melodies, fast guitar riffs, and generally feels like you are in a party like atmosphere. If you enjoyed the Oh Snap EP you need to find a copy of this album immediately. You'll love it even more. I know I did.

Say No More is basically House of Heroes' debut album in a deluxe edition that is more accessible and easier to find than the material it comes from. It's their debut album with two bonus tracks that fit in well within the track listing. As I listened to this album I seemed to notice two different sides of House of Heroes that are apparent on here. One side is a hyped up party band that want to get you up and dancing with catchy beats and riffs, (the 1st half of the album) and the slower, thought-provoking band that still retains its crunching guitar sound yet uses it in a way that highlights an important point lyric wise that makes you think about what is being sung. Say No More is a great album that no HoH fan should miss out on and other people should listen to if they are tired of hearing the same old thing over and over again.

Children 18:3 returns with their second outing and it is every bit as enjoyable as their debut but is not better than it. But there are still plenty of memorable tracks to be found here like "Cover Your Eyes," "Oh Honestly," and "Lost So Long." The only things making me not give this album a perfect 5 rating are that there are too few songs on here (10 full tracks plus 2 instrumental tracks that feel out of place as opposed to the rest of the album,)and the length barely goes over 30 minutes. Besides that, I still highly recommend this album to anyone who is looking for a fun and fast-paced experience.
