No More Hurting People - Single by Marc No More Hurting People - Single by Marc

The music video for this song features images from Boston and other tragedies. It's kind of a pop song but still hopeful and pleading for peace, knowing it will happen someday when Christ returns. Check...

I have to say, it was quite a bit of creative thinking that resolves this one. It was lovely seeing the other O'Connors again.  Julie Lessman writes well. However, it's not for everyone - if you skip...

This is the second man-on-death-row-is-he-innocent? book I've read recently. (The other was Randy Singer's "The Last Plea Bargain") I thought this was well-written, but sad too. There's two twists...

Some real awesome ones | Posted March-24-2010
My favorite song off this album is "Rescue". But I have to say that "Like The Sun" (another great) would be absolutely IDEAL for the end of a TV show episode. It doesn't mention God blatantly but us Christians know what it's talking about really.

I enjoyed listening to this album. Agree with others- there's definitely a Phil Wickham vibe. Wonder what a duet w/ him would sound like? Pick this up if for no other reason than to be able to compare it to their next one.

A good start | Posted March-23-2010
Shealeen and Elle Puckett form the acoustic pop sister act known as Poema. Their debut for Tooth and Nail is like a piece of spice cake and a cup of soothing tea; the soft guitars, pianos and harmony of the sisters' voices are lovely together. But while there's no question that the music is clean sweet fluff about love and life that anybody can sing along with, there's not much of a religious message. Unless you count their pure approach to love shown by what they don't say, of course.

Many of the songs on this album were originally released on Poema's 2 demo EPs. "2 AM", a new song, is about the self-doubts of a girl who's still wondering at that time of night about what kind of impression she made on her date. Can't say I've ever shared the experience. "City Boy" describes a guy who feels special because a girl loves him. He's not just lost in the crowd. In "Feel The Same Way" they want to know just that; is their love returned? He hasn't said it in so many words and she's feeling insecure. The message of "Echo Off The Sky" (the chorus of which gives us the album title) is a little hard to pinpoint. I was expecting a song about prayers seeming to go unanswered, but it's apparently about taking risks and seeing the results of your bold actions come back to bless you.

I heard "Safe To Say" first on their myspace page (the original independent version) and that was the song that made me like Poema. A tender reassurance of love, this song ought to wind up on a commercial with cute, gap-toothed little kids and food in it. One of those sentimental first crush ones that melts your heart and goes viral on Youtube. The "Blue Sweater" in the song by the same name belongs to the person they miss and is something they cling to.

While Poema's debut is a pleasant listen, it's not overly religious. I look forward to a full album from these talented sisters.

I remember hearing about this from the beginning and thinking (as a songwriter) "Whoa, I'd LOVE to be part of this!!" But not belonging to a church at the time, or being able to record a song/play accompaniment/write musical notes hampered me somewhat. (Understatement!)

If this project is yearly, I can't wait to see what comes next! My favorite songs are "One Who Overcomes" "What A Saviour" and "Better Than I Know" It was a great idea to do this project and I can't wait to hear more!

I love all the songs on this album. To Tell and Hello Kelly are awesome artists, and the others aren't bad either. If you like pop/rock don't miss this!

Lovely | Posted March-12-2010
"Come Save" and "Sweet Sweet Sound" are the two best songs on this album. I kind of wish the intro was a longer song. Sarah Reeves has a lovely voice.

I've liked Meredith since I first heard "You Invite Me In". Her music is beautiful and reassuring. My favorite songs are "Never Move On" and "Only To be Yours"

Love her music | Posted March-06-2010
Her version of "Mighty To Save" is my favorite. I also love the message of "Grace" and the lyrics of "Indescribable" Story's voice is unique and well suited to worship. One of my fave CDs.

"Absolutely" gave me chills when I heard it. "Something To Say" is interesting because of its mood. Although some of the lines are catchphrases, the album as a whole is a great listen!

Nice! | Posted February-23-2010
The title song is my absolute favorite off this album (I must've voted for it 10 times on Air-1's Insider), but I like the interesting idea of "Headphones" and the surrender theme in "Have Your Way". Britt did a great job!
