From Water to War by Nine Lashes From Water to War by Nine Lashes
From Water to War does a great job in bucking the sophomore slump and delivering a sound that is similar yet different.  While the band's debut sounded like any other hard rock album, this one...

The Musical Journey of Jon Foreman Continues | Posted January-28-2013
After 4 long years, Jon Foreman has finally completed his second album under his side project Fiction Family.  While I haven't had the chance to listen to the first album, I do know what the band is like and what style they utilize.  Before, it was just Jon and other guy but on this album they've recruited 2 new members to fill out the bass and drums.  This album sounds like a mix of indie rock and folk rock which makes the experimentation on some tracks noticible.  If you liked the previous album Fiction Family put out, you might get some enjoyment out of this one as well. For people who have heard of Fiction Family but have only heard 1 or 2 songs by them, this is a great way to experience what the band is all about.

Captures the Essence of the Early Days of Anberlin | Posted January-26-2013
Anberlin guitarist Joseph Milligan had quite a busy 2012. Not only did he utilize his talents for Anberlin's latest album, Vital, but he also had time to record a solo side project under his other "band" Sins.  What comes out of it is a blend of nostalgia for not only the punk days but early Anberlin.  The songs manage to be catchy and have the fun sound that Anberlin got down in their early days.  He even attempts his own spin on the trademark "epic" final Anberlin song.  Whiile it doesn't sound quite as good, it still captures it's spirit.  Fans of Anberlin in their early days might enjoy this album.

Hard Rock At It's Finest | Posted January-26-2013
Former Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch bursts onto the hard rock scene with his new band Love and Death's debut album and what results is a great blend of old and new styles.  It sounds like a Korn album which fans of that band might appriciate.  Lyrically, Welch crafts lyrics that guides us through life's ups and downs.  Between Here and Lost is a great album for fans of hard rock in general.  It has the Korn sound which will draw in fans of that band and it also draws in new fans with it's brutal honesty in the lyrics.

Best Rap Album of 2012 | Posted January-03-2013
2012 has been an eventful career for Lecrae.  First he released the well-recieved mixtape Church Clothes and folowed it up with the equally praised full-length Gravity.  Lecrae has matured as a rapper and the lyrics he spins are great and meaningful.  The sampling is tight and the beats created are also great to listen to as well.  Gravity is a great album that rap fans should get the chance to listen to sometime.

A Good Album | Posted December-27-2012
I'll be quick to sum up this album.  It's good.  The vocal work, clean and screamed, are well developed, they lyrics tackle many different topics, the sound remains tight, and there is some great guitar work.  If you are a fan of this band, you probably already have this album. That's all I can think of saying right now.

Hey, You Liked Red Right? Well Here's The Exact Same Story Only Set In The World Of Forbidden | Posted November-23-2012
Forbidden introduced us to an intriguing world and had a great story filled with interesting characters.  While it felt like Ted took some elements from Black, I still enjoyed the book.  Now we have the second part of the story and everything I enjoyed before isen't in this book.  The plot is basically a beat-for-beat retelling of Red just changing location names and character names to suit the world.  The characters basically fall into the same mindsets the characters from Red had.  It's still a well written book but I feel like Ted is falling back to throwing out the same story that made him popular.  I hope the next book in the series stays away from basically recounting the entire plot of White and gives us its own unique conclusion.

ABR Wants You To Have A Very Metal Christmas This Year | Posted November-23-2012
When I first heard that August Burns Red was making a full-length Christmas album I immediatly said "when, where, and how much?" Now that I have my hands on a copy I can say that they certainly brought their A-game with this.  The quality of the Christmas songs the band put out for the past couple of years is matched here now that they have 13 songs to tinker with.  Every Christmas song has that ABR touch including something that appeared on the band's last album Leveler where all of a sudden a jazz-like part interrupts the metal for a few seconds.  The band has even recorded 2 brand new instrumentals they wrote and they sound appropriatly ABR-ish.  And yes, they have included all of the Christmas songs they released previously on here (all of them have been remastered.)

August Burns Red has brought us a Christmas album that is unlike other Christmas albums.  They take classic Christmas songs and make them their own.  This is a must own.

A Glorious Return | Posted November-23-2012
2012 is looking like the rivival of ska music and it seems to be a great time for The O.C. Supertones to return to entertain fans old and young.  For The Glory marks a fantastic return to the sound that longtime fans will feel a tinge of nostalgia and introduce new listeners to the style.  The break hasen't seemed to faze the members as they pick up from where they left off all those years ago and bring us 12 more fun songs and lyrics that encourage and speak truth.  With The Supertones back and Five Iron Frenzy's return immenent, next year is going to be a great one.

Thoughtful Lyrics Among A Generic Sound | Posted November-23-2012
Truth and Purpose is an album that satisfies the basic needs any metal album must have.  A generic sound that portrays some thoughtful lyrics and killer breakdowns.  I, The Breather has made an album that will please fans, but anyone looking for something a bit more inventive might be a tad dissappointed.

20 Years Later and Still Bringing It | Posted November-07-2012
Disciple's latest album O God Save Us All is proof that the band hasn't lost their touch in the two decades they've been around.  The trademarks are all here, from vocalist Kevin Young's gruff screams to the fist pumping, adrtenaline fuled anthem songs, everything you want from a Disciple album is here.  While the band's sound hasn't changed all that much, it's still a fun listen.  This album is another solid addition to Disciple's discography though it isn't their best work.  I still find Horseshoes & Handgrenades worthy of that catagory.  Nonetheless, O God Save Us All gives us more of what we want from Disciple, and it's not a bad thing at all.
