Christian Rock Recaps are here to bring you the releases from the Christian-based rock and metal music scene. Rockfest Records is coming in hot this time, with Facedown Records following closely. Solid State has a release as well, but the independent scene has a powerful presence–from Nine Lashes' 5th single, a Linkin Park cover, and more that you should not miss.
Rockfest Records is finishing the year out strong and with exciting anticipation for 2021. The Protest is a hard rock band whose debut album, (and third studio album overall) Legacy, showed what they are truly capable of. It earned the attention of mainstream outlets as well as strengthening their fanbase. It's been about two years since we heard more from them. But no more waiting! One of their greatest songs is here, "Greater." The message is empowering, as Josh sings "I don't to it for the glory/don't do it for the game/this is all for something greater than me!"
Nine Lashes - "Follow"
One of the most iconic Christian rock bands of the 2010s is Nine Lashes. Their debut studio album with Tooth and Nail in 2012, World We View, has several songs with several million streams each to this day. They rode their momentum forward with From Water To Warin 2014. They surprised fans with a pop, contemporary worship album, Ascend, in 2016 to negative reception. They went quiet until a single was released in 2018. And then in 2020, they exploded back onto the scene. "Follow" is the fifth single from the band in 2020, with each single being fantastic on its own. They are ready to take back the Christian rock scene and we're "following" them all the way.
Fireflight - Who We Are
Another awesome release is also from Rockfest Records. You would recognize Fireflight from their position in the last Metal Monday, since their primary single, "Who We Are" was just released. Now, the full album from the 20-year Christian rock veterans is here: Who We Are: The Head and the Heart. It is a two-part album that contains some of the best music, messages, and production from the band yet. This is a must-listen-to rock album this year.
Ryan Adams lives in Ohio, yet grew up in Boise, Idaho. He loves the Christian rock and metal community. He has been sharing his passions with NRT, going into his second year writing with them.
