Easy Never Needed You is introducing the music listener of 2018 to the ethereal vocals of Sarah Reeves. But for many listeners, this is just the latest entry in the long story of her musical journey. Over the course of the past few years, Sarah Reeves has released songs ranging from major label EPs, independent releases and viral YouTube covers.
We invite you to walk with us through a timeline of some of her standout songs, beginning with her 2009 debut and leading up to present day.
2009: "Sweet Sweet Sound"
Sarah Reeves was first introduced to the music world with her 2009 major label debut, the Sweet Sweet Sound EP. This seven track collection was highlighted by the title track, which NRT featured in a behind the song devotional.
2010: "God of the Impossible"
This second major label EP featured three fresh new songs, including "God of the Impossible." These songs continued to show Sarah's maturation as a vocalist.
2011: "Broken Things"
In 2011, Sarah Reeves released a full length album independently. This ten track project gave her voice breathing room in her longest release yet.
2013: "Oceans"
After a break in 2012 where Sarah Reeves focused on her first year of marriage, in 2013 she began to release covers on YouTube. A few instantly shot to view counts in the hundreds of thousands or even millions, as in the case of her take on this Hillsong staple.
2014: "Your Love Is Strong"
Through 2014, Sarah's covers continued to rise in prominence. She primarily worked on worship songs, though within the vertical lyric focus, she branched out to a variety of different artists-- including taking on this Jon Foreman classic.
2015: "Ever Be"
Sarah's YouTube arrangements only continued to grow in strength. This soaring Bethel Music anthem matched itself perfectly with her vocal style.
2016: "Let It Echo (Heaven Fall)"
2016 saw some more excellent covers from Sarah Reeves, but also some exciting news: in the first half of the year, Sarah officially signed with Word Entertainment. Once she began working on new music with the new label, her covers slowed down. This take on a new Jesus Culture release was one of the last entries in her covers season.
2017: "Nowhere"
Sarah Reeves returned to the major label scene with this song, and with a stint on yearly mega tour Winter Jam. You can learn more about the story of the song by reading our behind the song devotional here.
2018: "Something About You"
This song brings us to the vibrant present, an era where Sarah Reeves is seamlessly meshing piercing worship and dancy pop vibes. You can hear six more songs of this caliber by finding Easy Never Needed You on iTunes here.
