Songs for the City | Posted June-15-2011
A collection of songs that are very worshipful and uplifting. My favorite tracks were "Beautiful" and "Jesus Loves Me". The musical styles vary a little with some songs that are slower and some that are more rock oriented. Many appeared to have been recorded live.

Overall this release seemed really mellow and worshipful with a strong emphasis on the person of Christ. The first few tracks seemed to be more contemporary and upbeat, climaxing at "Miracles" which had a stronger rock/blues sound, then the rest of the release really mellows out. Not my favorite release from Aaron, but not bad.

Not Guilty Anymore | Posted October-26-2011
Overall I did not care for this release as much as "Dwell". The songs are all Christ centered and very worshipful which was great and I definitely enjoyed that aspect, but the arrangements didn't catch my attention. I'm sure there will be many who will find this release very meaningful and encouraging though despite my particular feelings.

Come And Drink EP | Posted June-01-2011
An excellent collection of musical snapshots! Many of the songs were very catchy and instantly singable (my favorite being "Come Now"). You can really feel Matthew's love for Christ on this release and I loved the strong worshipful focus throughout. This sounds like an excellent release with the only downside being that I wish it was longer.

I enjoyed listening to this release from Tricia and the main thing that stuck with me throughout was the strong focus on worship and that it was Christ centered. This was very different from the Superchick albums I have heard and I thought Tricia's voice complemented the music very well.

I didn't care for this release musically as much as the bands second album. Personally I come to Christian music wanting something different than albums of love songs about human relationships so this release really wasn't one that I would purchase. There seem to be a lot of people that really like this band though and would recommend it to anyone who likes synth pop and isn't necessarily looking for songs with overtly strong Christian messages.

Musically I really enjoyed this release. It reminded me a lot of the 80's synth pop that I grew up with and many of the songs were very catchy and well done. I think I personally would have liked it better if the lyrics and focus had been more on Christ, but this is pretty standard fair for artists on this particular label so I wasn't necessarily expecting that when listening. I think this release would be good for anyone who isn't looking specifically for an album that talks a lot about Christ, but enjoys synth pop and songs about human love relationships.

Classic 80's Release | Posted May-21-2011
The song I remember most from this release is "What Goes Around Comes Around" and is still a great nastalgic 80's song that brings back a lot of positive memories. This whole album has many tracks that have that classic 80's "sound". I also remember "Say Yes" being a song that was played quite a bit on radio at the time. This is probably one of my more favorite albums from the band during the earlier period of their career.

This album reminds me a lot of the Imperials in many ways and overall is a solid traditional gospel release. I tend to prefer the later releases by the band as they evolved into more of a pop/contemporary sound, but as is common with all of Newsong's releases, the quality is very strong throughout and is very worshipful.
