Ginny Owens is a contemporary Christian music singer and songwriter. She was born in Jackson, Mississippi, and has been blind since she was two years old. After graduating from Belmont University with a degree in Music Education, she faced skepticism from many who questioned whether a blind person could be hired as a music teacher. Instead, she focused on singing and songwriting and began making albums, which she has continued to produce since 1999. Owens has also received three Dove awards, including New Artist of the Year (2000).

Get In, I’m Driving is an album by Ginny Owens, opening with its upbeat, witty title track—a clever wordplay considering her blindness. At its core, the song reveals a deeper truth: without the Holy Spirit, we are all spiritually blind and in need of God’s guidance. Ginny has been a long-time favorite female singer-songwriter, dating back to her debut album Without Condition, which features standout songs like “If You Want Me To,” “Free,” and “I Wanna Be Moved.”

Ginny has kept releasing songs that move me, including “Call Me Beautiful,” “Fellow Traveler,” Made for More,” and “I Will Praise You.” Ginny returned in 2026 with her EP Different Kind of Water. Here are my five favorite songs by Ginny Owens, in essence, her essentials.

"I Will Praise You"

This song showcases Ginny's gifts as a songwriter for the Church. The song includes the biblical and autobiographical lyrics "I will walk by faith, not sight/I will praise You/I will praise You in the deep/For it's there that I will see the truth." Ginny sincerely praises God for His goodness, repeatedly citing Psalm 42.

"Made for More"

The song is filled with meaningful lyrics for Christians seeking words to express their deep feelings and awareness that there is more beyond this world: "C'mon, lose yourself in the bigger mystery/Your name was known before the earth was formed, you were made for more." The emotional bridge declares, "Armies of angels fight for you to win. Trust the one who longs to free you." Have tissues ready; it is a beautiful song.

“God Will Meet You There”

The song paints a picture of a broken world where each of us has a chance to be redeemed again and again—if only we ask. Give it a listen, and I guarantee you’ll love it. I hang on every single word, and the song is breathtaking. Well done, Ginny.

“If You Want Me To”

The fact is, we’re all spiritually blind without the Holy Spirit’s guidance, and the song emphasizes our need to rely on God. Ginny has consistently been one of my all-time favorite female singer-songwriters, ever since her debut album Without Condition.

“On Repeat”

God loves you deeply. When you feel overwhelmed by emotions, turn to Him, and He’ll give you the strength you need. When you follow Jesus, you can be confident that God is always with you and will never leave your side. Embrace these lyrics as a reminder: “It’s time to get a new song ready and sing it loud. Louder over and over. Sing through the hurt you hope. Sing of the hope you know. It’s the song on repeat, building who you will be. Sing of the gifts you got. Sing everything to God. It’s a song of praise to You. What will you say? Oh, the song on repeat.”
