Christian Rock Recaps are here to bring you the releases from the Christian-based rock and metal music scene. The independent scene has been releasing great music for the last couple weeks. Facedown Records isn't going out quietly this year, with releases from Weathered and Fallstar. New long-awaited Love and Death music is here too. Also, the death metal scene is very prominent. If you like your metal music extra heavy, there's some music for you too.
There was a breakthrough album that Christian rock fans and mainstream rock fans alike loved in 2013. That was the debut album from Love and Death, Between Here and Lost. This band is Brian "Head" Welch's personal project, outside of his resident nu-metal band Korn. With very similar sounds and styles, Brian created Love and Death as a way to reflect his spiritual life and write about things Korn would not. He also gets to work alongside other great musicians like JR Bareis, Jasen Rauch, and Isaiah Perez. Eight years after that beloved album, "Down" is the first single released from the band from their upcoming 2021 album, Perfectly Preserved.
Fallstar - "SSRI Feel Better Already"
There is another band who has had a long hiatus that returned with new music this week. The metalcore band Fallstar has released their first single in five years, titled "SSRI Feel Better Already." The band also signed to Facedown Records, which is a great sign for more music from them in the future from a label that is killing it right now. They shared their excitement on Facebook that a brand new album is coming very soon!
Unseen Faith - Evoke (album)
I did mention there was some fresh, heavy, death metal music now, right? Alongside other bands like Defying Death, Heliocentric, and Diamonds to Dust, who all released singles, Unseen Faith put out a whole album! Evoke has an awesome blend of metalcore elements while retaining a crushing melodic deathcore sound. The members' Christian faith drives a lot of the lyrics. Consider buying their new album to help them out after three long years of writing. Keep an eye on this growing deathcore band from Denmark, as they have a lot of potential.
Ryan Adams lives in Ohio, yet grew up in Boise, Idaho. He loves the Christian rock and metal community. He has been sharing his passions with NRT, going into his second year writing with them.
