Each week, dozens of singles and a handful of projects are released in the Christian Hip-Hop (CHH) and Urban Soul spaces. Below, we listen to a few highlights and list the rest for your own discovery. As always, follow our New Christian Rap & Hip Hop playlist on Spotify to listen to all the latest.
Lecrae - "Deep End" In preparation for the release of Lecrae's next studio project Restoration by summer's end, he drops the second single from the forthcoming album. The eery, yet smooth beat becomes the backdrop to Lecrae adding up blessings, yet struggling to stay afloat mentally. Staple hip-hop heads will recognize the sample used throughout the track. Given the name of the album and the content of this single, expect Lecrae to expose himself inside out if the transparency heard is any clue.
nobigdyl. - "Sweet Dreams, Breathe Easy" Even as headlines begin to fade and individuals are no longer trending in social media, some artists have made it a point to keep the necessary narrative active. Dylan will be donating all the profits from the release to the equal justice initiative. The track was produced by epic1beatz. The content focuses not only on the murders of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd but injustice as a whole. Even though the track is less than two minutes in length, it touches on discussion topics that should be in conversations for months and years ahead.
