Repeating an action over and over again causes an impact on the person completing it whether it be something as simple as tying your shoe, to checking social media every morning. The worship songs we sing every Sunday are no different; their messages are ingrained in our heart. Paul Baloche is the reason that many of these songs came into being, and it is his song and a new remake on it that we take a look at today. He has written numerous impactful songs such as “Hosanna”, “Open the Eyes of My Heart”, and “A New Hallelujah.” The recipient of three Dove Awards, his work has been recorded by many artists, such as Casting Crowns, Michael W. Smith, and Matt Redman. Alongside his songwriting expertise, he also reaches out to musicians through teaching DVDs and books in which he gives advice and resources pertaining to leading worship.

The second artist we take a glimpse at today is Local Sound, who has given a new feel to Baloche’s song. Local Sound was founded and is led by Jared Runion. They began in the Nashville, Tennessee ministry MyLocal615. Their mission is to spread the Word of God through “high energy, innovative music” as is stated on the Integrity Music website. God’s plan to use a local church is played out through their work, and also their name. One of their goals as a band is to show others the joy that comes along with God’s love and being found in his grace and mercy.

NEW: "Open the Eyes Of My Heart" by Local Sound feat. Paul Baloche

To see You high and lifted up
Shinin' in the light of Your glory
Pour out Your power and love
As we sing holy, holy, holy

As a Christian who greatly values meaningful worship moments, these lyrics mean a lot to me. Sometimes, though, the meaning of the worship can get lost in the immediate thoughts that surround them. These four lines remind us of the true purpose of worship; to praise God and thank Him. We sing “holy, holy, holy” as we lift up our gratitude and our hopes to see Him shine in all corners of the world.

CLASSIC: "Open The Eyes Of My Heart" by Paul Baloche

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see You
I want to see You

This is such a powerful prayer. Lord, let us step away from our hectic lives and take a moment to bask in your love. Let us be open and honest with you. Let’s look hard and deep for You everywhere we go and then be a part of spreading Your message. We want to see You.
