Each week, dozens of albums, EPs, and singles are released in the Christian Hip-Hop (CHH) and Urban Soul spaces. Below, we listen to a few highlights and list the rest for your own discovery. As always, follow our New Christian Rap & Hip Hop playlist on Spotify to listen to all the latest.
Marty (of Social Club Misfits) - "The One Where I Talk To God (feat. Andy Mineo & Tree Giants)"
Marty from the Social Club Misfits duo returns with the first single from the final installment of the Marty for President series. Four years ago, he released the first project and recently stated both pieces will form into a complete album once part two releases on June 6. This first single finds two familiar features joining Marty as Andy Mineo is a long-time friend and Tree Giants was featured on previous tracks from Marty's discography. Juicebangers collaborated with Marty for the production of the track. The focus of the material is us as a culture leaning on God in prayer during difficult times. Perfect theme for what the world is dealing with through the current COVID-19 pandemic.
Bizzle feat. KB - "Smoke Free"
Bizzle is back with his third released single from the project The Messenger 4 dropping on May 22. This time around, he enlists the talents of KB whose always been unashamed and vocal for the Gospel. Each artist exchanges bars with vivid accuracy claiming Kingdom business through the "smoke" (trials/drama) of life. Bizzle and KB call for listeners to leave behind things, not of Christ, and "level up" moving forward and closer with faith, relationship in Christ.
BrvndonP x Mission - Barely Finished 2
Two main pieces from the RPSMG collective join talents to create Barely Finished 2. Mission and BrvndonP (fka Black Knight) join forces and release a solid project highlighting vocal abilities and production genius. The 10-track collection contains high energy, thought-provoking bars, and a motivating message pushing listeners to further their faith while completing life's race. After a quick listen through, my favorites are the soulful, worship-like "Mourning Into Dancing," the lyrical "Seasons," and the party feels of "Issa Bop." Make sure you check this one out with the rest of this week's releases.
