With Easter coming in just a few days, this is the time where we are normally dying eggs, buying new outfits, and all the Easter-y things that define our family traditions. This year, however, services are different and time with family and friends is redefined. Our entire world in some state of shock and lockdown. Easter doesn't seem like a celebration this year and it can be extremely taxing for believers. Despite this, God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Today we glean some insight and comfort in that fact from worship artists Matt Redman, Selah, Paul Baloche, and Leeland (who have all released new music), along with a timeless classic from Darlene Zschech.
May God's peace enter your homes and spaces in the midst of any anxiety and uncertainty seeking attention.
Matt Redman "Upon Him"
Upon a hill, a perfect Saviour
Upon that day, the greatest love
The punishment that should have fallen on us
Upon Him, upon Him
Christ took everything on for us. Shame, sin, humiliation, death. Let that weight sit in this season, and then ask yourself how you can return praise to the King of Kings today!
Selah "Yet Not I, But Through Christ In Me"
No fate I dread, I know I am forgiven
The future sure, the price it has been paid
For Jesus bled and suffered for my pardon
And He was raised to overthrow the grave
When we consider other's suffering and take the focus off our own circumstances, our ability to look outward becomes greater. Christ gave the ultimate sacrifice on the cross and that love for each and every one of us extends to the present day. Pause in your suffering today to remember His for us and how He overcame!
Paul Baloche "Behold Him"
He who chose a criminal’s end
Paid with blood to settle our debt
Buried death as He rose to life
Behold Him
The Father of the Universe, our creator, chose a death reserved for criminals. It was a choice. It was God's plan. Countless other options were available. But this was the way. This was the path. What purpose does that have for you in this season?
Leeland "A Better Word"
It's singing out with life
It's shouting down the lies
It echoes through the night
The precious blood of Christ
Speaks a better word
The cross can conquer everything you are facing today. There is so much information coming at us from so many directions. It's increasingly getting harder to focus in and filter noise and distraction from the words that Jesus' blood gives. Those words are full of life, freedom, and comfort. Write down those words that the blood of Jesus Christ produces and meditate on those today.
Darlene Zschech "Victor's Crown"
Hallelujah
You have overcome
We don't have to overcome this season. It's not up to us to be victorious over the virus, over our mental health, over sickness, over frustration. Jesus wears the Victor's Crown and when we rely on that power, we can overcome with Him.
