Singer-songwriter Darrin Charles is turning heads. The new artist from New Port Richey, Florida was recently nominated for Best Songwriter at that 2019 International Christian Music Film Festival. The married father of two kids works every day as a cabinet maker (He loves to work with wood, making furniture and carvings). I recently connected with Darrin about his recent single, "What Have I Done?", his music, his career, and his future.
You recently were nominated for a local songwriting competition. Tell us about that experience.
The experience was amazing. I got to meet so many talented and gifted people from many different fields of Christian entertainment. I also got to perform and share my song, "What Have I Done?" with many people. I know the Lord will open opportunities.
Tell us about your current single, “What Have I Done?”
"What Have I Done?" touches on the subject that we're not perfect. Even though we sin and sometimes make bad choices, it doesn't mean that God doesn't love us. He knows we're imperfect. It's his love and forgiveness that gets us through this world.
What are some of the themes and topics you want to share with listeners of your music?
Most of my music is positive. It's about love and relationships. It's about life's journey. Experiences we all share as children of God. Letting others know that they're not alone in the struggles of everyday life. Since most of the apostles were fishermen, maybe I’ll write a song about fishing.
What’s next?
"What Have I Done?" was a single release. I'm still promoting it. As a matter of fact, the single has received a very positive response on social media. I might be releasing an EP in a few months, which means I'll be recording and releasing more songs. So, if you like my new single, then hold onto your hats, because I have more great songs coming. Songs, I believe, a lot of people will relate to.
How can we be praying for you?
I seek to answer the calling of music production in my life. I seek to make music my full-time career. Please pray that the Holy Spirit keeps filling me with music. Music that connects with people. Pray that I get more into His Word. Pray for encouragement. Pray that God will open the doors for my next EP, a collection of songs with wonderful messages that will connect with others. Most of all, please pray for my family.
