Sheri Lynn Riley is a relatively new independent artist. She's a jill of all trades, so to speak. She has been a freelance writer, a performer, and a motivational speaker. She has also been an adjunct professor, a secondary teacher, has been a voiceover actor for radio commercials and a host on a cable newsmagazine show. Not to mention she has written and narrated educational films.
Now, you can add being a Christian artist to that list. In fact, Sheri recently released her second album, Love Matters. She took some time from her busy schedule to review the songs on her new album.
Part 1: FAITH Ephesians 2: 8-9: “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.”
“Names of God”
Why should you trust in God above all other names? Before you listen to this song, make a list of all the names for God that come to mind. If you fall short of the 953 names from the Bible, don’t despair. This song includes 42 names for God that will remind you He is worthy of our faith, praise, and devotion.
“Choose Faith”
Don’t let discouragement or bad choices define who you are or will be. Let the God of all creation shower you with gifts of truth, love, forgiveness, grace, and life now and for eternity. It’s up to you. Choose to accept God’s invitation to faith in Christ.
“Free”
You say you’re “free” in Jesus, but expressing your freedom increasingly puts you at odds with others. God’s given you a spirit of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7), so call on His strength to break chains, move mountains, and pass the light of Jesus to a world that needs to hear the Good News.
“Unseen, Not Unknown”
God gave you a birth date and a beginning. While you freely choose a present and eternity as a child of God, your life journey is full of unknowns. Yet, God is always working for your good, so don’t lose hope. God’s Word reveals promises meant to bring you peace and satisfy your soul when you trust in God alone.
Part 2: HOPE Romans 15:13: “I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”
“Unravel Me”
Hope Misplaced: Have you lost your way in relationships and lost hope? Have the realities of your life caused you to hide the truths in your life from others? And have you ever tried to hide from God? Your Father loved you while you were still a sinner, and He continues to love you when you’re broken. Present your authentic, transparent selves to Him. He’ll lovingly unravel all your ‘impossibles’ and leads you into His blessings.
“Since I Met The King”
Hope Replaced: Does the person with the most ‘toys’ really win? Has the lure of temporary treasures and pleasures misplaced your affections and distracted you from the treasures of heaven? Re-evaluate your relationship with distractions, replace your passions with faith in eternal truths, and enter into the joy of your new life story--compliments of the King.
“My Hope”
Hope Renewed: Is stress starting to steal your joy in life? Take heart, child of God. Beyond the clouds, the sky is still blue, beneath your pain lies a happy tune, and behind the stone, you’ve found the truth in the Good News. Your hope has left the tomb. Now, your destiny is a victory for every battle, purpose in your life journey, and restoration of hope.
“Rocking the Cradle”
Hope Restored: Six Old Testament stories of faith will encourage and renew your faith that God is in control of both your life and the events of the world from cradle to grave.
PART 3: LOVE Ephesians 5:2: “Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.”
“My Allegiance”
God loves loyalty. As a child of God, your first allegiance is to the name and cross of Jesus. Your heart’s desire is to love others as Jesus loved, live like Jesus lived, and proclaim your devotion to God first in a world that needs the love and peace of our Father.
“He Chose Life”
God loves life. He sent His Son, Jesus so we might live. God chose our life over the life of Jesus. God showed us love so divine that we could personally choose life in Christ and defend unborn life while we live. God absolutely forgives every past sin. But, asks that in the present and future, we love every heartbeat of life.
“Love Matters”
God loves it when you love others. Language without love for others is like a noisy gong or clanging cymbal. Empty words promises broken, and partial truths meant to manipulate are the instruments of hypocrisy. When you speak, when you listen, and when you act, consistently love others as Jesus loves you.
“Moving Along”
God loves you and forgives you. But, He also wants you to forgive yourself, love yourself, and move on to the plans He has for your life. You’ve looked everywhere for truth, but the places, people, activities, and events from your past add up to disappointment, discouragement, and maybe even embarrassment. What were you thinking? Take courage, child of God, because God has enough power to move you forward. Listen, obey, and then move along.
