Although there wasn't a whole lot of new releases from solo female artists in 2019, there has been a lot of new releases from female-fronted bands! We're going to take a look at some brand new female-fronted bands that look promising, along with some older female-fronted bands that have released some new tunes. So if this editorial had a hashtag, it would probably be #girlpower!
The Young Escape
The Young Escape is made up of four siblings, with McKenna Johns on lead vocals. They're a band that's defying the odds, and proving that you can make music at any age. McKenna was recently featured on Tenth Avenue North's song "No Shame," and the band also recently released a new single called "So Alive." They signed to Capitol CMG two years ago, and have already gained quite a fanbase. I can see why, because there's nothing not to love about their music!
For All Seasons
For All Seasons formed in California, and has been around for ten years. In October they came out with a new EP project called & Side A. They frequently play at churches and youth camps, and have released two live worship albums from the events, which include great covers! The lead singer's name is Emily, and her vocals are always fantastic in every song. If you've never heard of For All Seasons, you have to check out their music!
Lindy & The Circuit Riders is a worship band fronted by Lindy Conant. Lindy is a worship leader with YWAM (Youth With A Mission), and currently resides in Huntington Beach, California. Lindy's music is similar to Bethel Music, and any worship music lover is sure to like her style! During the spring the band released a new album called Driven by Love, and you can watch the video for the title track song below!
We The Kingdom is a new band, but their song "Holy Water" has already landed a spot on the radio, and a tour with Chris Tomlin. Although new, I can tell that their songs are going to be hits for years to come. Ed Cash is part of the band, and most of the band members are part of his family, with his daughter Franni Cash being the lead singer. They mainly do worship music, and just released a Christmas song with Chris Tomlin called "Christmas Day!"
Hillsong Worship is a classic example of a female-fronted band. Brooke Ligertwood is currently the lead singer, and she's an extremely talented vocalist. Hillsong has quite a following, and they've packed out arenas for their worship concerts. Hillsong just recently came back from a tour throughout the US with Casting Crowns and Elevation Worship. Hillsong Worship is a band that has been loved for decades and continues to bring forward new music that will be loved for decades more.
Vote for them in The Chorus Award (Church Worship Album of the Year) and Worship Song of the Year ("King of Kings") categories now through January 31, 2020 in the 8th Annual We Love Christian Music Awards!
Love & the Outcome
Hailing from Winnipeg Canada, Love & the Outcome is a husband and wife duo that's been making music since 2012. The lead singer is Jodi King, and she met her husband Chris Rademaker when she was pursuing a solo music career. Chris was Jodi's guitar player, then they got married and formed Love & the Outcome. They recently released a single called "You Got This," which you can listen to below!
Switch is the student ministry of Life.Church, a multi-site church with 24 physical locations in seven states that's based in Edmond, OK. While the worship collective results in multiple vocalists, it's the soothing vocals of Cassidy Estevez on their smash hit single, "Symphony," that has catapulted the band to the forefront.
