Learn some interesting facts about Centricity Music's smash musical sensation, Lauren Daigle, whose sophomore album, 'Look Up Child,' is out now, and lighting up the sales charts!
Lauren Daigle is arguably the hottest name in Christian music right now. With her much-anticipated sophomore album, Look Up Child, bowing at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, behind only legendary names Eminem and Paul McCartney, this is a perfect chance to get to know the new Queen of Christian Music with some fascinating details from the Centricity website.
Roots
Lauren Daigle was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana. But her family moved away after a few months. She instead considers Lafayette and Baton Rouge, Louisiana as her hometown(s). On her immediate family, Daigle has this to say, "My dad, Mark, and mom, Laura, are two of my best friends and amongst my greatest support. My brother, Brandon, is 27 years old and married to the beautiful bride, Scoti. They have the sweetest, precious-est, most fantastic-est baby named Colt Anderson. My sister, Madison, is 16 years old and has stunning strawberry blonde hair. My Aunt Tracy and Cousin Sierra are also my ultimate sidekicks!"
Growing up, Daigle always wanted to be a singer. It looks like God did too.
Favorites
Besides music, Daigle's other passion would be food. She even says she'd be a food critic if she weren't a musician. If you ever get the chance to cook for her (or if you just want to "be like Lauren Daigle"), some of her favorite foods are: Cajun BBQ glazed shrimp over smoked gouda grits; fresh spinach salad topped with candied walnuts and pecans, avocado, strawberries, mandarin oranges, blueberries, feta cheese, and a citrus glaze dressing; finishing off with a homemade Bourbon chocolate chip pecan pie.
And after dinner, sit back and relax to one of Daigle's favorite movies, Avatar, Shutter Island, or The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Or maybe dive into a good documentary, another of her favorites.
Or if cuddling up with a good book in your pursuit of Daiglefying your life if more your speed, you'd best go to the Good Book, as her favorite books are the entire New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs.
If you're still in school, study up on your Grammar, Math, and Ceramics, because those were Daigle's favorite subjects as a student.
Music
The first record Lauren Daigle ever bought was by Avril Lavigne, but the first one she ever cherished was a Celine Dion cassette. (When she was only 5.)
Daigle's musical influences are truly vast, ranging from legends like Billy Joel and Whitney Houston to modern worship staples Hillsong and Jesus Culture. Also included are Celine Dion and Dave Matthews, as well as Adele. (Who would've guessed?) As long as it has some serious groove, Daigle's likely to be a fan.
Random Tidbits
If given the choice between lifelong hiccups or lifelong need to sneeze (without being able to), Daigle's going with the hiccups. (It's a better workout for the abs and diaphragm.)
Daigle is also an adrenaline junkie. Whether it's riding motorcycles, cliff jumping, traveling the world with cuts and bruises on her feet, or experiencing cultures in the way the locals do, Daigle is down. She's that girl who'll eat insects if that's the tradition.
Daigle loves her home state of Louisiana and grew up swimming in those alligator waters seen on Swamp People.
So there you have it. Now you know a little more about one of Christian music's most promising voices. If you ever wanted to be a little more like Daigle, now you have your starting point.
