Bryan Andrew Wilson is an advocate for educating the youth and underprivileged. He lives for learning. He teaches biology. He teaches Spanish. And, coaches wrestling. Wilson is a high school teacher by trade. But, he’s also a musician. He plays piano, plays guitar, carries a tune, and writes music. Now, Wilson wants to take his strong musical background to an all new level, with his new EP, This Time.

You had some early success as a child in gospel music and then stepped away for a decade. Tell us how that time shaped who you are now.

Starting off as a kid really exposed me to things that some adults at the time had not experienced. This includes flying from coast to coast and to other countries, meeting dignitaries and celebrities, staying at the best places all for just wanting to share my love for God through song. It taught me early on that living for God will open doors and grant opportunities that one can only imagine. However, as I matured, I began to understand that life can throw curve balls. So, I had to rediscover myself as a man and not as a child-singing sensation. I learned to love Christ in a deeper, more intimate way.

What drives your passion for music today?

The message that God renews and restores is what drives my music today. Humanity has the proclivity to error and knowing that I realized God's redemption plan needs to be shared in a way that all can understand—especially millennials. We often beat ourselves down because of past mistakes or misfortunes, but the message of God is one of hope, restoration, life, fun and love. Also, freedom drives my music today. People are bound by so many things and they need to know God loves them enough to make them free. I want the music I sing and produce to charge the listener to overpower every obstacle they face.

Your new EP is titled, This Time. What do you want the title to communicate?

I want to communicate power through God’s love. Christians are to meek, not weak. Live a life of no regrets. This is what I want to communicate. I want to communicate that Christ's love has empowered us to accomplish any task that lays before us. We are to be bold as lions and walk through every door God presents to us. No time for fear.

What artists are influencing your writing right now?

There are quite a few artists that inspire me. I can’t really choose one in particular. I’m just trying to be true to myself and to be authentically, Bryan. I’ve tried to be a Rolex Replica Watches of others, but it didn’t work out for me. So, I try to find inspiration through my day and that’s what I write from.

Talk about a few songs on your new EP. The story behind them, and the themes behind the songs.

The song, "This Time" is about loving unapologetically, being fearless in faith, and realizing one's true identity in Christ. I’m fearfully, we are fearfully and wonderfully made. "Inspire of Me" is a song that speaks of how awesome God’s mercy and grace is. He loves me and continues to inspire all that I do. There’s nothing I can say or do to repay Him for His mercy. "Love Always" is a ballad with strings, piano and timpani. It’s an expression of how, when I was broken and hurt, He loved me to total healing. And, and it conveys my dedication and devotion to Him for redeeming me. He gave me a second chance at life.

Do you see any challenges the church is facing today? What are some solutions to those?

I believe the church is waking up. We are seeing the error of placing tradition over salvation. The soul of man is more important than our cultural differences. I believe we our expressing social assertiveness that is catching the eye of the lost. I’m glad to be apart of the church, and I’m proud to be part of the revival that is taking place at this time.

Tell a story of how you've seen music impact God's Kingdom.

Music can be played all day and not just 11am on Sundays. It allows the world to experience what we as the kingdom feel every time we come together. It’s one of the greatest witnessing tools we have. It’s our greatest invitation.

What's next?

Growth is what's next for me. I can't say in particular, but I will not be in the same place next year as I am in this year. I will develop mentally, educationally, financially, and, most of all, spiritually—in Jesus' name.
