One of the best things about music is that it connects people from all across the globe. No matter what part of the world you call home, music is a universal gift that we all can take part in.

In Christian music, artists come from just about everywhere--including a strong presence in the United Kingdom. Sparked by worship band Southville's recent release Freedom Tree, we've gathered a list of our favorite artists making a British invasion in Christian music.

1. Southville
Southville Music's Freedom Tree is the result of a unique challenge initiated by worship leader Tim Williams: write 100 songs in one year. His church in Yeovil invited the entire congregation, from children to their elders, to contribute phrases and lyrics towards the project. The result is a true communal worship project.

2. Pyramid Park
Songwriter Pete McAllen leads the new and innovative collective that is Pyramid Park, based in Cambridge. Pyramid Park uses alt-pop sounds to fuel songs that combine worship with lyrical transparency. Their appropriately titled debut record Vulnerability is about "taking off the masks."

3. Army of Bones
Army of Bones is the latest project of legendary Delirious? vocalist Martin Smith. Their debut project released in March of this year, featuring a captivating guitar-driven sound which proves that Smith is far from done shaping the worship landscape.

4. Chris Sayburn
Chris Sayburn is a voice that has been known for writing with others, creating with fellow worship leaders like Ben Cantelon and Chris McClarney. His own debut full-length record dropped in July, composed primarily of songs written while he ministers as head of the worship ministry for New Wine England.

5. Ian Yates
Liverpool-based Ian Yates is one of the more veteran artists on this list. With four full-length albums under his belt (most recently 2016's Awaken to Love), his sound has matured to thoughtful reflections on the unchanging nature of a God who has steadied Ian through his own questions and ministry challenges.

6. Tim Hughes
Tim Hughes is another experienced writer who has in turn used his skills to teach others through the Worship Central school. His last album, 2015's Pocketful of Faith, included partnerships with fellow seasoned worship writers Martin Smith, Matt Redman and Phil Wickham.

7. New Wine
What began as a small group meeting in the home of Pastor Guillermo Maldonado and his wife eventually morphed into King Jesus International Ministry, the home base for worship group New Wine. The group's first full-length album, Encounter Us Holy Spirit, released earlier this year.

8. Stu G
Known as being the musical force behind Delirious? as its groundbreaking guitarist, Stu G recently saw a lifelong dream realized as he released his massive Beatitudes album, featuring incredible collaborations and original songs that detail the various words of Jesus from the Sermon on the Mount.

Assembled from the four corners of North America and many other corners in between, the NRTeam is comprised of staffers whose energy is equally dispersed towards loving music and writing about the music they love.
