Recently, Steven Malcolm released a behind-the-scenes video on his YouTube channel, showing him sitting in a tattoo parlor sharing his testimony as a tattoo artist works on a design on Malcolm's arm. The words of his testimony are powerful.
Malcom never grew up with a genuine father figure. His stepdad was a dealer of weed, cocaine and guns, resulting in his deportation to Jamaica.
As a teen he decided to play sports, finding his identity in the games--as well as in girls and partying. He had a supportive mother, but she was also an alcoholic. He believed in the existence of God, but never made Him a central focus in his life.
After a school dance one night, a girl asked him to come back to her house with him. But he experienced the conviction of the Holy Spirit, which gave him the strength to resist temptation and say no. That was the moment he knew without a doubt God existed. He asked his pastor that same night how he could grow closer to God. He soon grew to enjoy Christian rap and started to memorize Scripture from Lecrae's music.
Soon afterward, in 2010, Malcolm gave his life to Jesus. He studied Scripture in depth for an entire year and grew to know what following Christ truly meant. When he stepped on the stage to rap for the first time, it was unlike anything he had ever experienced.
Steven Malcolm is sharing that testimony now with audiences of thousands as an opening act on Winter Jam, and also through his self-titled debut album, available now. You can purchase Steven Malcolm here.
