Fire & Ivy are making their presence known with the release of their latest EP, Eternity, where they not only serenade listeners with tight harmonies and unpredictable songwriting but also bold, obvious, unashamed lyrics pointing to an eternal worldview.
They took a moment to share a little bit about each of the heart behind the songs from Eternity.
"Fire in the Sky"
"Fire in the Sky" is our anthem of giving our lives over to Christ and living for Him. It was written around New Year's, but the fact of the matter is that our walks with God, as Christians, are a series of new beginnings, choosing to follow Him day by day, moment by moment. For us, "Fire in the Sky" is not only a challenge to resolve to follow Christ at the New Year, but also throughout the year.
"If You See Me"
"If You See Me" deals with about accountability and how we all, as brothers and sisters in Christ, so need each other in our walks with Him. It's a challenge and an encouragement to those around us that if they see us falling, or walking away from the Truth, that they would come up to us and point us back to what is true and real, back to our Savior, Jesus Christ.
"Eternity"
"Eternity" was written to get people (even ourselves) to think about our life after death. Even though we don't really like talking about it, death is inevitably coming, and the Bible says there are only two destinations. Where will you be spending it? Also, for those of us who know Jesus as our personal Savior, are we living in a way that reflects the reality of spending Eternity with our God?
"Yours to Use"
This song was written in a time of being unsure about the dream we were pursuing. It's a declaration that, although we don't know what the future holds, God is in control and we are his servants, ready to do whatever He calls us to.
"Draw Me In"
"Draw Me In" is about those moments after we realize that we've sinned against God and we get on our face in repentance. We have learned in these moments, that God's grace truly is sufficient and his forgiveness and restoration leave us in awe of who He is; what can we do but worship Him?
Eternity by Fire & Ivy is now available on iTunes and Spotify.
