An English Proverb of unknown origin states, "A man without a mustache is like a cup of tea without sugar." Sadly, there are plenty of men whose upper lips remain uncovered by a layer of facial hair--including many of your favorite Christian musicians.
As mustaches are hot pop culture symbols--showing up in photo booths, car engine grills, iPhone cases and even lollipops--I thought it was high time that we imagine how nine artists would look with this folicular accessory (and one artist clean-shaven).
Behold--your curiosities are now fulfilled.
1. Jeremy Camp

A nicely curled, busy stache perhaps would give this pop/rock/worship artist the look of a turn-of-the-century circus weightlifter. Paired with
Jeremy Camp's legendary biceps, he'd solidify his standing as Christian music's most action film-ready artist.
2. Michael Tait of Newsboys

Michael Tait (frontman of
Newsboys) hasn't aged much since the dcTalk days, and a short, thin mustache would communicate to fans that the recent 50-year-old singer is entering a more chilled out season of music and ministry.
3. Trevor McNevan of Thousand Foot Krutch

A short, tightly trimmed mustache for the
Thousand Foot Krutch frontman would certainly grind down his gritty rock edge, but would give Trevor a more artful look, perhaps appropriate for a groundbreaking new
FM Static album that we hope happens someday.
4. Colton Dixon

He already has the most iconic hair in Christian music, but
Colton Dixon would build on that momentum with a 1970s-looking mustache that curls down the side of his face. It would mark a new season of life for the newly married man, balancing manly maturity with his carefree rockstar sensibilities illustrated by his hairstyle.
5. David Crowder

Rather than imagine this artist wtih facial hair, we had to imagine him WITHOUT it. Using composites from various sources from his younger years, we took a desperate attempt to find out what's beneath
David Crowder's trademark beard. The beard, as it appears here, gives him his folktronic powers. Without it, he'd likely be making an indie alt.rock record.
6. TobyMac

There's no question that
TobyMac likes to stay on top of trends and the style of the day, so it's amazing we haven't yet seen a mustache from him. While this bushy stache could give him the look of a member of the Irish mafia, it also gives him an edge we haven't yet seen from the rapper.
7. Israel Houghton

While he's known for singing "Friend of God,"
Israel Houghton isn't a friend of a straight-up mustache at this time. We think a thin layer of stache would add to the mystery and intrigue of this artist/producer/songwriter.
8. Mike Donehey of Tenth Avenue North

His band has a song called "What You Want," and what WE want is to see Mike Donehey of
Tenth Avenue North try out a combination of a burly mustache and thick soul patch. He may look a little bit like Super Mario, but it would give him a fatherly look to speak into the lives of the next generation.
9. Lecrae
Lecrae has spent time with the Houston Rockets, and we'd love to see him try to grow a James Harden beard, which would mask a number of facial expressions and would allow fans to focus on the intensity of the words the Reach Records artist is rapping.
10. Chris Tomlin

As one of worship music's most polished artists, we think a near-gotee would add some grit and grunge that would fundamentally reinvent
Chris Tomlin, giving him the look of a European film director. Would it translate to his music? We can't possibly see a scenario where that wouldn't happen. Get ready for dubstep worship hitting the mainstream, y'all!
Who wore it best? Who else would you like to see try out some facial hair?
