AN NRT GUEST EDITORIAL
Pastor Jason Becker: Headaches and Bunny Hops
In his latest NRT blog, Jason Becker talks about finding what really matters as he gets older.

Last week was spring break for the kids. We were able to have several families come with us to Florida. At times our place was over taken with kids on bicycles, tricycles and scooters. Every-one had a blast, including me. We found ourselves biking to and from the playground, tennis courts, homes and the beach. It was a great workout and lots of fun.

Somewhere in "hanging" with the kids, they started doing tricks on the bikes. You know... the wheelie, jump over the curb and the all-time favorite "bunny hop" (of course the kids didn't know that was the original name of hopping both of your bicycle tires off the ground at the same time without a ramp). None of them thought dear old dad/uncle could do it, so I showed them the best bunny hop of all time. The crazy thing is, as I bunny hopped my bike up and down the street, a major headache settled in. Even a bike trick as elementary as a bunny hop is becoming hard for me to do at my age.

As we get older, I find life comes at a faster pace. All the pressures set in and cause us to lose sight of Jesus' words as our greatest commandments:

"And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.' The second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' No other commandment is greater than these."
- Mark 12:30-31(NLT)

My grandfather, who was part of the greatest generation ever (WWII), wrote on every card he ever gave me for Christmas, birthdays, graduations, my wedding and any other occasion Mat-thew 6:33. He understood an easier way to focus on the greatest commandments. Simplifying all the things he had in his life, he lived by this verse:

"Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need."
- Matthew 6:33 (NLT)

Check out this song that talks about this call from Lauren Daigle (who may not be from Atlanta, but I think she hangs out here some).

Over these next few weeks let's seek first the Kingdom of God, placing him first. Until next time, lean into Jesus.

Pastor Jason Becker began his career after school at the University of Georgia, in a family business in metro Atlanta and oversaw exponential growth that eventually allowed the family to sell the company. It was after this sale and playing golf 6 days a week that Jesus ruined Jason's golf game and broke his heart for the things that broke His. Pastor Jason was part of an intercity church plant for the last three years in Little 5 Points Atlanta, Georgia working in addiction recovery, and is currently President of Rcity Records. Aside from counseling and speaking at ministry events, he and his family currently attend Buckhead Church in Atlanta, GA. He continues to invest in businesses that serve people and improve the communities around us.
