Great sounds! | Posted September 24, 2009
i've always been a fan of hawk nelson's and was waiting for this album to be released. "live out loud" has a great variation - the way the songs are sometimes played with the full band or with just some acoustic guitars as in "eggshells - featuring tobymac"

the songs give a positive message and encourages us when we find it hard to live up to what God wants in "never enough" . in "the meaning of life" they speak of how we need to find new beginnings and make changes in lives. The light sounds of "Ode to Lord Stanley", talks of needing truth instead of old wife's tales or legends. "the job" talks bout how nobody can take our dignity and pride. the song "lest we forget" reminds us not to forget that the choices we make decide who we will be and where we go.

i'm not sure if it was on purpose or not but a few of the songs seems to have a repetitive theme on the way we should talk and not have foot in mouth disease. all in all, this album is worth listening to. and a job well done to hawk nelson. =)

Hawk Nelson Finds The Meaning of Life | Posted September 23, 2009
Hawk Nelson's 4th studio release features many different styles with enough diversity to satisfy everyone - even your grandmother (try "Tis So Sweet"). That's not to say the band has forsaken rock. Fans leaning toward the heavy side of Hawk Nelson should check out "Alive" and "Live Life Loud." One of the most lyrically meaningful songs is "Shaken" - a heartfelt cry that he is ready and willing to be God's instument of change. We also see Jason's deep respect of his grandfather on "The Final Toast." In addition to this, Tobymac makes a guest appearance on "Eggshells."

I was very pleased with some of the messages in Life Life Loud. This album talks about faith and living it out for the world to see. It has a worship song, it talks about heaven, and it also laments about words said that we can't take back, all the while adding the expected Hawk Nelson fun into the mix. They also chose to use lighter guitars on a couple of songs; this was a good choice.
While the over-all feel of the album is very different than the band's first two releases, it is a natural progression from Hawk Nelson is My Friend. And of course, the bagpipes on "Tis So Sweet" rock! Who knows, maybe they will start appearing at upcoming concerts?

Hawk Nelson did it again | Posted September 21, 2009
I really like this album. Its good old hawk nelson at their best!! Great lyrics and really catchy hooks! The album starts off with a bang with the title track "Live Life Loud" It is a song that I wont be able to get out of my head which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Hawk Nelson always seems to have a knack to mix really high energized songs with inspirational ballads with excellent lyrics that end up pulling at your heart strings such as The Final Toast. The bands perfect ending to another awesome album. If you're not a Hawk Nelson fan then this is a good album to get yourself acquainted with their style of music.

Live Life Loud by Chase Tremaine | Posted September 21, 2009
The album starts out with the cheerleading chants of the title track, entering into a fun and message-full song of punk-pop pleasure, clearly stating to all listener’s that Hawk Nelson are staying the same for their fourth album in a row. Hawk has never been the kind of band to change or even mature their sound. They just slightly refine their sound of adjust how they mix their formula of CCM, punk, pop, and alternative rock. Plenty of the songs are short-and-sweet morsels of Christian punk, but Hawk have been as well known for their ballads ever since 2006's great hit “Everything You Ever Wanted.” The band continues to write with longtime collaborator Trevor McNevan, but this time around Hawk even has a song with TobyMac. The vocals are fine (hitting a high in rambunctious “Alive” and the gorgeous “Shaken), but the band actually sounds unique when they give the music a moment in the spotlight as well, like in the stellar intro and bridge of “Meaning of Life.” The songwriting may be simple, but Hawk Nelson is great at what they do.

It's Hawk Nelson | Posted October 27, 2009
At first listen it was ok to me but like most of Hawk Nelsons stuff it grew on me. They are a great group of guys and love there fans. Just look at the pictures I got from the Awake and Alive Tour. I love Live Life Loud, Never Enough, The Meaning of Life, Alive, and The Job are probably the ones that stick out to me the most. They are the most upbeat songs on the album and I love Hawk Nelsons up beat stuff. It gets you going at work I have compiled all there upbeat songs on my ipod and rock out to them when I need to get moving. But yes another fine album from a great group of guys.

The Return of Hawk Nelson | Posted September 21, 2009
Artist pick of the week-Returning to the sounds of their first CD's comes an album not to be missed. The rockers Hawk Nelson return with a CD that brings a little something for everyone. "Meaning of Life" is a deep song with a beautiful orchestral piece and moving lyrics. Starting off the CD on a high note is the rocking title track "Live Life Loud". "Alive" brings across an industrial sound with intense lyrics and a rythm that makes you want to get up and move. The random side of Hawk Nelson comes back in the islandish sound of “Ode to Lord Stanley”, blending a ukelele and great vocals with some thoughtful lyrics gives you a break to think about modern media. The song “Shaken” has music that feels a lot like the 90's but with lyrics that take aim to your heart. One of the most interesting points of the CD is the Celtic rendition of "Tis So Sweet" an absolutely gorgeous version. And closing out the CD is the acoustic "The Final Toast", with a great violin peace and passionate lyrics, a great way to bring the CD around to the end. In the end it is a great album with some fun songs and some deep songs, even bringing out a time to worship, and that is why it is my pick of the week. -Aaron Dowen
