The Return of Hawk Nelson

By calanon,
Artist pick of the week-Returning to the sounds of their first CD's comes an album not to be missed. The rockers Hawk Nelson return with a CD that brings a little something for everyone. "Meaning of Life" is a deep song with a beautiful orchestral piece and moving lyrics. Starting off the CD on a high note is the rocking title track "Live Life Loud". "Alive" brings across an industrial sound with intense lyrics and a rythm that makes you want to get up and move. The random side of Hawk Nelson comes back in the islandish sound of “Ode to Lord Stanley”, blending a ukelele and great vocals with some thoughtful lyrics gives you a break to think about modern media. The song “Shaken” has music that feels a lot like the 90's but with lyrics that take aim to your heart. One of the most interesting points of the CD is the Celtic rendition of "Tis So Sweet" an absolutely gorgeous version. And closing out the CD is the acoustic "The Final Toast", with a great violin peace and passionate lyrics, a great way to bring the CD around to the end. In the end it is a great album with some fun songs and some deep songs, even bringing out a time to worship, and that is why it is my pick of the week. -Aaron Dowen
