"There Will Be A Day," from
Jeremy Camp's album
Speaking Louder Than Before, is my favorite song by this artist.
Jeremy has experienced the depth of God's mercy after losing his first wife Melissa to cancer. His debut album,
Stay, featured songs expressing Jeremy's reliance on God including "I Still Believe" and "Walk By Faith" which hooked me immediately because they are so personal and biblical. Jeremy has gone on to become a best-selling artist with hit songs "Take You Back," "Let It Fade" and "Give You Glory." Each album has improved on telling his personal faith journey.
The song comes from the Scripture found in
Revelation 21:4.
"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
I love this Scripture. It is so comforting.
Here are Jeremy’s thoughts behind this amazing song:
"I know, for me, there have been things in my life that have caused pain and have been difficult-—times where I wanted to give up and had no hope. But there’s that promise God gives us, filled with hope of eternity, with no more suffering and no more pain. I know that we’ve all gone through trials and tribulations in our lives, but I want to encourage you through this song, the Scripture in Revelation and also in Romans 8:18, which inspired this song. In Romans 8:18, it states, "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us."
I love that we can be earnest here on earth because we can eagerly wait for what God has prepared for us in eternity. We can look forward to this hope, as this pain here on earth is only temporary because this is not our home.
When recording There Will Be A Day
, a choir was recorded singing the chorus and bridge. There was a lady in the choir who suffered from chronic pain. As she sang, she was truly experiencing the hope the Scripture speaks of, closing her eyes and raising her hands in worship, embracing the words that someday she won’t experience the pain that she suffers with here on earth. It was a beautiful thing to see these words impacting someone before the song was even finished.
So I encourage you to hold onto God’s promise that He’s prepared a place for us that is far greater than any suffering we could ever endure here. Hold on to that hope that one day there will be no more tears, no more sorrow and no more pain. And while we’re here, let’s share that hope we have in Christ."

Here are the lyrics to "There Will Be A Day"
I try to hold onto this world
With everything I have
But I feel the weight of what it brings
And the hurt that tries to grab
The many trials that seem to never end
His word declares this truth
That we will enter in this rest
With wonders anew
But I hold onto this hope
And the promise that He brings
That there will be a place with no more suffering
Chorus: There will be a day with no more tears
No more pain, and no more fears
There will be a day
When the burdens of this place
Will be no more
We'll see Jesus face to face
But until that day
We'll hold onto You always
I know the journey seems so long
You feel you're walking on your own
But there has never been a step
That you've walked out all alone
Troubled soul don't lose your heart
Cause joy and peace He brings
And the beauty that's in store
Outweighs the hurt of life's sting
But I hold onto this hope
And the promise that He brings
That there will be a place with no more suffering
Chorus
But until that day
We'll hold onto You always
I can't wait until that day
Where the very one I've lived for always
Will wipe away the sorrow that I've faced
Oh, to touch the scars that rescued me
From a life of shame and misery
Oh, this is why, this is why I sing
Chorus twice
There will be a day
He'll wipe away the stains
He'll wipe away the tears
He'll wipe away the tears
There will be a day
I can’t help but breakdown every time I listen to this song. If you’ve ever felt alone and pressured by the worries and stress of this world, this song brings great comfort with the extremely wonderful news that ‘there will be a day when the burdens of this place will be no more and we’ll see Jesus face to face’. This song encourages me and is one of the most inspirational songs I’ve ever heard. What an exciting thought that all suffering and hurt will be left behind and one day ‘glory will be revealed in us through Christ’.
