There are quite a few styles on this album. From modern r&b hip hop tracks, classic easy listening styles, a track with a 70's pop sound, a live track, this release definitely aims to offer up a wide variety for anyone who picks up a copy. It could be argued that this release is a little too varied and jumps styles back and forth a bit too much, but I thought really enjoyed the variety and thought it was put together pretty well in the end. It's obvious Mary Mary can handle a wide variety of styles.

This Christmas CD didn't really connect with me. I think when I think of Christmas I think of the old classics (Bing Crosby, Sinatra etc...)

This is probably my 2nd favorite Mary Mary release. I thought the songs on this release are much catchier than some of their other releases and instantly have you bobbing your head (or whatever else you move when listening to music). Once again this album has some variety, with songs that range from modern hip-hop to more classic stylings that sound like something you might have heard on the radio in the 70's.

I have noticed many songs that Mary Mary has guest appeared on have been some of the best songs on an album so I had high hopes for this CD. For some reason it seemed a little flat and didn't interest me as much as some of their past material. I wish them the best though and am sure this release will be enjoyed by many.

So So | Posted May-07-2011
Overall this release did not appeal to me much. The collection of songs are very consistent in their presentation (so there isn't a lot of jumping from one style to the next) and rely a lot on a thick wall of guitars as their backdrop, although there are some mellower tracks that are more worshipful. I enjoyed the focus on Christ, but I think the vocal performances just didn't really attract me. I know this band is popular with many so this probably just isn't my style of music.

This is truly a classic gospel release for Kirk Franklin. I remember working in a Christian bookstore during the time this album was released and it was a consistent top seller. It's still a little odd to hear God be referred to as "Lordy", but I really do appreciate the strong worshipful focus on God in this release. Worth checking out for anyone who likes gospel music.

Worshipful | Posted May-08-2011
I am not a huge fan of urban gospel, but I really appreciate the strong emphasis on glorifying God and such passionate songs of worship. This was Kirk Franklin's second album and the recording features Kirk and his choir performing live. There is quite a variety of tempo's presented in the various songs and many different vocalists that take the mic. Everything on this release is of very good quality and inspirational.

Not my top pick | Posted May-08-2011
I've heard from many that this is a very special Christmas album in the gospel market, unfortunately it probably wouldn't be something I would pick up to listen to at the holidays. I tend to prefer the more traditional Christmas hits (Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole...etc...).

This contemporary gospel release is very soulful and heartfelt. A great collection of worship songs that focus on glorifying Christ from beginning to end. The performances are varied and all exceptionally well done, featuring some very talented and gifted musicians and vocalists. I recommend this one for anyone who enjoys contemporary gospel.

Thus far this is probably my favorite release from Kirk Franklin. The style of this album seems very different from the others that came before it and seemed to be directed more towards a mainstream office with elements of hip-hop and rap. There production values and performances on this release are top notch and most of the songs are very catchy and have you singing along in no time.
