Each week, dozens of singles and a handful of projects are released in the Christian Hip-Hop (CHH) and Urban Soul spaces. Below, we listen to a few highlights and list the rest for your own discovery. As always, follow our New Christian Rap & Hip Hop playlist on Spotify and Apple Music to listen to all the latest.
West Indies EP by Jon Keith and Miles Minnick
During the Holy Smoke! Festival in August last year, San Diego’s Jon Keith and Bay Area’s Miles Minnick previewed music from a forthcoming EP project titled, West Indies. Fast forward until November, the first single “LOOK” was released. Three singles later, the full project has released on the last day of February 2025.
The Californian dynamic duo has defined a fresh redesign of what west coast music should sound like. G-Funk sounds, appealing aesthetics and God-honoring content is what drives the new music. Favorite tracks include “GOD WAS RIGHT,” “CLUB,” and “NEW MAINSTREAM.”
From the west to the world, Keith and Minnick are bringing Jesus to the people in a new, captivating and funky manner. Stream the West Indies EP on Spotify here.
Peabod - "Head First" (from the new animated television series, Gabriel and the Guardians) Independent artist PEABOD drops his first new music since June of 2024. The latest single is a collaboration with Angel Studios for a new animated anime television series titled, Gabriel and the Guardians. The series is based on the book of Genesis featuring a Celestial Guardian who races to reclaim a stolen seed and save creation. The producer is Albert Francis Moore and the writer is David Evan Cunningham.
“Head First” is the end credits song in the pilot of the new animated series. Inspired by the protagonist’s relentless positivity and his willingness to take big risks, the song channels feelings of adventure and courage. In creating this song, PEABOD pulled from multiple genres including punk, hip-hop, hyperpop, and more in the hopes of creating a song that would inspire listeners to bet on themselves, similarly to how Gabriel does in the first episode of the series. Stream “Head First” on Spotify and Apple Music.
Ski Mask Cologne: Right Eye by Selah the Corner
Independent artist and formerly signed with God Over Money, Selah the Corner releases his first project since 2019. In 2021, he did a collaboration project with C4 the Corner and Ayo Shamir. Throw in a handful of features and a couple singles and Selah’s focus has been elsewhere since the Coronavirus pandemic hit in 2020.
The album features C4 Crotona, A.I. the Anomaly, KamBINO and H.U.R.T. A handful of producers added their talents including Carolinah Blu, Parry Illest, Kaeyos, Yoga Flame, and Jicky. Also, Joseph SD was responsible for the dope cover art. Favorites of mine include “Wrightville 21” featuring C4 Crotona, “A113” featuring A.I. the Anomaly, and “Job Maseko.” Selah has always been pure hip-hop. Divine boom-bap. Lyricism is what defines him.
When asked about the passion behind the project, Selah responded, “After Covid, I wanted to quit music, as I had no desire or drive. I thought it was a sign to step away when it really was spiritual depression, the birth of my nephew snapped me back into music. Also, you’ll notice the track names are television documentaries I loved watching the last several years except for the title track.”
