Each week, dozens of singles and a handful of projects are released in the Christian Hip-Hop (CHH) and Urban Soul spaces. Below, we listen to a few highlights and list the rest for your own discovery. As always, follow our New Christian Rap & Hip Hop playlist on Spotify and Apple Music to listen to all the latest.
Miles EP by Miles Minnick One of the hottest up-and-coming independent artists to date is Bay Area's (San Francisco) Miles Minnick. The self-titled 6-track EP features three of his recent singles and three new tracks for Glo Nation to ingest. Minnick has already linked with two of CHH's premier rappers, Reach Records' Hulvey on "Show Out" and indie tribe's nobigdyl. on "W.Y.T." The three closing tracks continue the energetic tone Minnick presents regardless of the track. He isn't ashamed to mention and proclaim the name of Jesus in numerous bars. Stand-out tracks include "Show Out," "Clutch," and "Miles." The EP is nearly 17 minutes of hip-hop bangers perfect to unwind to after a long day on the nine to five or when with friends in your ride on a Friday night. The production isn't overwhelming at any point, yet just chill. The EP is a near-perfect introduction to what Minnick is capable of on the microphone and previews what's to come in the near future. You can listen to the EP on Spotify here.
JP Killed It feat. Tre Ovalle - "Timeless"
Independent artist JP Killed It hopped on a refreshing R&B vibe snagging Tre Ovalle's harmonies for the melodic ride. The duo creates a fresh sound with their new single "Timeless." They speak of the inability to dial out the noise of daily life to focus on God's work to live timelessly. Listen for the surprise electric guitar appearance solidifying the entire track as a major vibe. Creativity in the culture is alive and well as I love when artists present range outside of boxes to handcraft unique music. You can listen to "Timeless" on Spotify here.
