The rock and metal music scene has a lot of great music coming in early 2021. We saw a lot of creative and well-written music in 2020, despite artists' many obstacles. I believe that momentum will continue into the new year. Christian Rock Recap will keep you up-to-date on all the latest releases. Here's what's happening this week.
Demon Hunter - "I Will Fail You / Dead Flowers (Resurrected)"
The iconic Christian metal band Demon Hunter's eleventh studio album is one their most unique yet. Fans have always loved the band's ballads as much as, or sometimes more than, their heavier hits. Demon Hunter is very aware of this fact. So, the band's upcoming album, Songs of Death and Resurrection, is satiating those fans' wet appetites. The album features 11 stripped down "resurrected" versions of Demon Hunter's best songs, as well as one original piece. "I Will Fail You" and "Dead Flowers" give you great examples of what's to come. And I'm all for it.
Nine Lashes - "Among the Stars"
One of the more exciting bands to make a come back to the rock scene recently is Nine Lashes. Their last rock album was released in 2014. Since then, fans have wanted the band to release heavy guitar rock music, especially after their 2016 pop-electronic album, Ascend. Nine Lashes' seventh single, "Among the Stars," is a more electronically-charged heavy song with great lyrics. I can't wait until the band announces a new album. The collection itself will be worth the wait.
Daygraves - "Nocturnes (Split)"
If you're looking for a distinct new sound in the Christian metal scene, Daygraves is who you need to listen to. Daygraves makes post-rock music that's different from other Christian rock and metal artists and bands. Not only does the sound really stand out, the songwriting is top-notch. Daygraves just released two songs: "This Broken Body" and "Until I'm Somebody Else." These come not long after the superb EP in 2020, Silver. I definitely recommend checking out this music.
