Welcome to the first edition of the Christian Rock Recap for 2021. I'm stoked for all the expected and rumored albums and singles for the year. Music label Facedown Records is getting ready for their first release with metal band Fallstar's Sunbreatheralbum. Also, Love and Death's long-awaited nu-metal sophomore album is coming soon as well.
The third single from Love and Death's sophomore album, Perfectly Preserved, is out now. "White Flag" features Ryan Hayes, lead singer from rock band Righteous Vendetta. This single closes Love and Death's upcoming album, which drops February 12. "White Flag" features an ambient intro, gritty verses, and melodic chorus, as well as a rap sung by Ryan.
Collision of Innocence - "In Between (Reimagined)"
One of the rising stars of the Christian hard rock/metal scene is Collision of Innocence. With over a million combined streams across streaming services and some Christian rock radio charting singles, they have earned the attention. Recently, the band rerecorded one of their first singles, "In Between (Reimagined)." I love the mix of heavy and melody alongside the encouraging biblical message.
Fallstar - "The Prism Glass"
One of the most overlooked, unique, genre-blending bands of the 2000s is Fallstar. It's been a little over five years since their last album, Future Golden Age, was independantly released through Kickstarter support from fans. The new album, Sunbreather, comes out on Feburary 12. And, "The Prism Glass," the album's fourth single is out now. It is, vocally and musically, one of the heaviest songs the band has ever released. The song's lyrics is an honest reflection about living in the gray of life. Lead singer Chris sings, "They keep their heaven high, we make it here below/I’m born out of simple love and unrelenting grace."
