I heard them play a lot of the songs from this album at Winter Jam last year and fell in love with their music! I've never been one to listen to this type of music, but I've gotta make an exception for these guys! I can't get enough of them now!! So many songs on this album have such deep meaning, its incredible. When I was at Winter Jam, a boy accepted Jesus Christ as his savior due to John Cooper's (I think that's his name) preaching between songs. It was amazing.

Great Album | Posted March 02, 2010
This is a very deep album from Skillet. There are more slow ballads than hard rock songs. All of the songs are amazing. They each have some deeper meaning behind them. I would recomend this album to any fan of Collide or Comatose.

Great Album... | Posted February 05, 2010
... But it sounds to much like Comatose. It is basicly Comatose with some softer songs thrown in. Skillet has been known to change there sound on each album. I guess after the sucess of Comatose the decided to try a simmilar thing for Awake. I am not saying this album is bad though. It is one of my favorites for 2009. Here are my favorite songs on the album:

Hero - A great starter for the album, I love Jen's vocals in this.

Monster - The most popular track, and my favorite. And the growl in the bridge is great.

Awake and Alive - Great song. Once agian, I love Jen's vocals.

One Day To Late - A nice, soft song. It has a great message reminding us that we should make the most of every momment, and not waste are lives.

Dead Inside (Bonus Trak) - Not the best lyrics, but amazing guitar. Defiently my favorite next to Monster.

Comatose and AWAKE | Posted December 10, 2009
When I heard Skillet's song "The Last Night" I knew they had something in store, then they released songs like "Comatose", "Rebirthing", "Live Free Or Let Me Die", and "Whispers In The Dark which made me buy the CD

Then they release "Awake" which features the hit singles "Hero" and "Monster" I actually won the CD and can't stop listening to it.

Awake opens up with "Hero" "Basically every day seems to get weirder, darker and scarier with thousands of people losing their homes and hurting over a variety of reasons. AButwhen you boil it down, Christ is the one who gives us a reason to live", "Monster" "Is a song about the nature of sin and the nature of the divine, which is the duel nature we have as Christians.

The most Spiritual song on the album "Forgiven"
"is a very hopeful song, it strikes a balance between being very worship oriented and honest as well.

Skillet truly has brought home an excellent album.

Song by song review by JD92 | Posted December 03, 2009
This album was VERY impressive in my opinion. It was amazing both lyricly and musically. Make sure you get the duluxe edition, you don't want to miss out on the two bonus tracks.

The first song Hero forces you to realize that you really do need a Hero in your life. The Hero(Jesus) is the only One that can save you.

The second song, Monster, shows you for what you really are. We are all sinners, monsters inside. I think that Monster points you in the direction of Hero and that they both go hand in hand with each other.

Awake and Alive makes you feel just as it says it does, awake and alive. This song inspires me to face the world head on with vigor like I've never felt.

Now the song Don't Wake Me I can't really relate to it but I do think that it is a great song for those who can relate to it.

One Day Too Late I have got to say is my favorite song on this album, it's lyrics mean so much to me, it encourages people to strive harder in life so as not to waste the precious little time we have. Time wasted is time regretted later.

It's Not Me It's You I really do like, but I feel like it's a song that makes you blame other people for your own mistakes. But I do enjoy it.

Should've When You Could've is one of my least favorite songs on this album because I can't really relate to it.

The song Believe is my least favorite of the album. I don't really have much to say about it.

Forgiven is another one of the best songs on the album. It helps the person realize that no matter how many promises you break, no matter how many times you turn away, God is always there to take you back and forgive you. The part where it says "I've loved another" is like a sermon my pastor preached one day out of the Bible where God was using a man to demonstrate how he feels about us. The man was instructed by God to marry a women who was unfaithful so that he could live how God feels about us because of how unfaithful we are.

Sometimes is right on target for me, that is how I feel sometimes. I feel like I don't want to be a better person, or feel better when I'm feeling bad. Sometimes I want other people to feel as bad or hurt as I do. Sometimes I know what I'm doing wrong and I just don't care. This song really pulls it out and puts it in perspective, it gets a person thinking.

Never Surrender is another life saving song by Skillet. It just pulls you through the tough times you are going through. It's another song that hits home with it's lyrics.

The saddest song on this album is Lucy, when I really think about it it brings tears to my eyes. It is left open enough that it can relate to any loss that a person has experienced, from suicide, abortion, death, anything really. It's lets you know that you have to love your family/friends while they are still there.

Dead inside is kind of like Hero to me, I just love belting out ♪Dead Inside! my heart and soul flatline♫ It's just fun to sing.

Would It Matter is an awesome song too. I always think of it would matter if anybody would care or notice if I just "left". I always wonder how I would be remember or if I would even be remembered. Sometimes I wonder if it matters that I try or not. It just, I can't describe it, it's just really great.

Great Album | Posted October 09, 2009
I love this CD. I love the uplifting message that it expresses. Rock and harder forms of music tend to be focused too much on the negative times. But Skillet is able to capture the other side of it. This album also has a good variety between the songs, unlike some of the other cd's where many of the songs start to sound the same. Like I said, I love this cd.

From being Comatose to Awake | Posted September 04, 2009
i absolutely loved this album! i bought it the day it came out and i cant stop listening to it! i love the style, how it's similar to their previous album but still a different sound. it's alot harder and seems to talk alot about resolving the issues talked about in the last record. i love how the last record is titled Comatose and the new one is titled Awake. it's awesome!
