Hawk Nelson, Live Life Loud | Posted September 25, 2009
This was a surprising album to me in a good way. I could see myself either bouncing up and down or jumping up and down to some of these songs if they were sung in my church. The lyrics are very clear and easy to catch on to and sing.

More mature songwriting yet still trademark HN sound | Posted September 25, 2009
Hawk Nelson has certainly come a long way since their 2004 debut album. I was surprised when I first heard that they were coming out with a new album so quickly after last year's Hawk Nelson Is My Friend. But I have to say, this is a great album. Not their best work but it's a strong candidate for second best. The band really has matured in their songwriting ability especially on the last third of the album. The sound of this one is the same as the previous 3 albums but that only adds to how much better they have gotten. I also think that the people who think up the packaging of Hawk Nelson's albums should really be shopped around to other Christian artists. Last album we got a board game, this album we get a booklet that is printed in 3D with 3D glasses added in for no extra cost. This is probably the most original idea for packaging I have seen this year and it probably will stay that way. Signature HN sound mixed with a new maturity make this album a great buy.

Great sounds! | Posted September 24, 2009
i've always been a fan of hawk nelson's and was waiting for this album to be released. "live out loud" has a great variation - the way the songs are sometimes played with the full band or with just some acoustic guitars as in "eggshells - featuring tobymac"
the songs give a positive message and encourages us when we find it hard to live up to what God wants in "never enough" . in "the meaning of life" they speak of how we need to find new beginnings and make changes in lives. The light sounds of "Ode to Lord Stanley", talks of needing truth instead of old wife's tales or legends. "the job" talks bout how nobody can take our dignity and pride. the song "lest we forget" reminds us not to forget that the choices we make decide who we will be and where we go.
i'm not sure if it was on purpose or not but a few of the songs seems to have a repetitive theme on the way we should talk and not have foot in mouth disease. all in all, this album is worth listening to. and a job well done to hawk nelson. =)

Live Life Loud: Hawk Nelson | Posted September 21, 2009
If you haven't previously liked this pop/rock foursome from Cananda you just might this time around. Before starting the work on this album the band got together to see where they are and see where they want to be. They took time to refocus, and it certainly paid off for their fourth album. The album starts out with the title track, Live Life Loud. This song immediately brings to mind Bring Em Out and California. Eggshells, the third in the line up goes off in a different way style wise. A great song and great guest vocals by tobyMac. The Meanng of Life brings to mind One Little Miracle. A great, catchy song with meaningful lyrics. Alive is a little harder, sounding similar to You Have What I Need, but also retaining its own uniqueness. Long Ago is a little more mellow, and definitely one of my favorites. It's a nice love song. Shaken is another really good one. It is one of the slower songs, and probably the best of its kind Hawk Nelson has done. 'Tis So Sweet is an old hymn with some pizazz thrown into it. It has a nice use of bagpipes not heard before on an album by Hawk Nelson. The Final Toast is the perfect song to round out the album. If you have always been a Hawk Nelson fan you are in for a treat and will continue to love the pun loving 4, and even if you weren't a previous fan, you just might find something on this album. This is the first Hawk Nelson album where there is a true seriousness while still maintaining the true guys. This was the album that truely shows Hawk Nelson is here to stay and really established thmselves.
