Rock What You Got [edit]
by Superchick | Genre: Pop/Rock | Release Date: June 24, 2008

Inpop Records' sister-fronted band Superchick followed up 700,000 career albums sold and 70 film, television, and video game placements with the premiere of its boldest, most unapologetic project to date, 2008's appropriately-titled Rock What You Got.

Three years in the making, Rock What You Got came on the heels of Superchick's most successful album ever, Beauty From Pain, which landed three No. 1 radio singles, including "We Live" and "Stand In The Rain." With this album, Superchick 'rocks what they've got' and reinvents itself with a more progressive, in-your-face sound the band dubbed 'rock-o-tronic.'

Seeking out world changers in the lost corners of a generation, Superchick noisily challenges the status quo, while journaling the band members' battles with depression and cancer in the quieter moments of the record. Produced by the band's own Max Hsu (Superchick, tobyMac, newsboys), Rock What You Got features the stand-out title track in addition to the songs "Breathe," "Crawl," and "Cross The Line," for which Superchick's spring 2008 headlining tour was named, among others.

Another AMAZING album from Superchic[k] | Posted July 06, 2008
I've been a huge fan of Superchic[k] for quite a few years now, and I had pretty high expectations for their newest CD as soon as I heard about it. When I listened to their first single off the album, "Alive," it only heightened those expectations, and I immediately loved what I heard. Once I finally got the CD, I was not disappointed in the least bit. Superchic[k] has an awesome new techno-ish feel to their songs in this CD, which I loved. Honestly, I love every single song on this album. Even my mom was rocking out to "One More." This is a great new CD for any age. Rock on, Superchic[k]!

ROCK longer please. | Posted July 04, 2008
Just got this CD, Its pretty Amazing, all of the songs. Its a nice mix of in your face Rock songs, and songs for the down an out. Superchick does a great job at lifting others up, and this is not exception. I often use songs to help friends that are struggling with suicide and many other problems. and I know I will be using some of these songs to help them. Crawl, Breath, and Hold especially. This album obviously has some really good rock songs, implementing Superchicks signature, One Girl Revolution style. lyrics that say 'Im not going to be trampled and brought down by the world.'
Some of the Guitar riffs are very reminiscent of PETRA in the 80's. A very big plus for the band.
This is a great album, the only thing I wish they had changed, is that it was longer. the album is so good, when its done you are left thinking... its over already! I want more! great album all around.

Afterthought | Posted June 27, 2008
After purchasing the album and listening to it again, I'm kind of disappointed. There are some good songs there, but rather repetitive of their old stuff.

IT'S AMAZING! | Posted June 26, 2008
Okay, so I went to the Cross The Line Concert and pre-ordered the CD and it just came in the mail yesterday! Yay! I also got it autographed, and one for my best friend! It's an amazing CD, great songwriting, beats, and sound. I love jamming to it, and I recommend it for any Superchick fans. It's really a step up, and I love it! GO BUY THE CD!!!! Lol. My favorite songs are Hold, Alive, Hey Hey, So Beautiful, and Rock What You Got. 1 thing you should know about this CD is that all of the songs (except for breathe and crawl [carry me through]) are very upbeat, and they're just...idk, you hear these songs and they make you want to go out with them and change the world, or just break down with emotion and start crying. The writers for this disc were flippin' AMAZING. They put on a great show, and they have amazing music, and I will support them and promote them through whatever.

Wake up and Rock What You Got | Posted June 24, 2008
I thoroughly enjoyed the first few passes listening to the new Superchick album, Rock What You Got. Intelligent lyrics as usual. The sound is definitely "alive" and beckons you to jam with the band. There is a serious intensity in which can energize you in a heartbeat. Great job Superchick. This one is in my queue for sure. :-)

They Rocked What They Got | Posted June 24, 2008
Superchick certainly "Rocked What They Got" and made us feel like they were "Alive" with their positive messages with their message in "Hey Hey" to be your own person even if the whole world thinks you're crazy. Superchick has an arena rock sound which reminds me of Queen although with much better lyrics. "Hold" admits that one can't make it by themselves and that everyone needs a hand (Jesus) to get through. "So Beautiful" addresses the fact that all girls are beautiful in more ways than looks which include beautiy from within with character, intelligence, gifts and more. The sensitive rock ballad "Crawl:Carry Me Through" talks about Jesus carrying us through our troubles and tears.

I've already sent the link of "Alive" to my skater friend Joannie Rochette's agent and will send the link of the free album preview to Joannie because with her figure skating at the world level, Joannie can bring Superchick's message and music to many people. And besides, Joannie has a right to show everyone she's "Alive" and will "Rock What She's Got".

'Rock' Does Just That | Posted June 23, 2008
Superchick's newest release, "Rock What You Got", promises a lot of things, and definitely delivers. It promises to rock hard, but in an undeniably unique way. It does so, and brings an electric-pop-funk-punk feeling with it. Its ballads are tradtional Superchick-esque, reminding one of "Beauty From Pain", as well as "Stand in the Rain", which is also included on this disc. "Breathe" is very bare, but also very moving. My favorites on the rock side are "Alive" and "So Beautiful". This album is definitely going back to the roots of this band, back in their "Kareoke" days, but with a slightly more polished sound. The eclectic feel is there, as well as the un-produced style. However, the production and the adventures into "rock-o-tronic" show how the band has grown & evolved, and yet still remains true to its core. Positive, uplifting, and defiant of society's demands on what girls, guys, and life lived should be like, "Rock What You Got" has done just that.

The Best One Yet | Posted June 23, 2008
This album by Superchick is amazing. The lyrics are powerful and the execution was astonishing. I think they've outdone themselves with Rock What You Got and made it a fantastic collection of songs that are destined to speak to all of its listeners. Keep recording and keep performing Superchick!

Superchick not so Super | Posted June 23, 2008
Okay first and foremost, I'm a hugh Superchick fan. I have all their albums and my 13 year old daughter loves them as well. The new album, however, Rock What You Got is a dissapointment on several levels. First, it just sounds rushed. I wonder if it was written on the road in between stops on the last tour, because the lyrics are sophmoric. The only song the comes close to the lyrical excellence of the last album is Crawl (Carry Me Through). Secondly, gone is any indication of any Christian message. What is there is so watered down, it might as well be non-existent. Lastly, the songs seem to be about nothing of any consequence and the music, just sounds like a bunch of noise covering bad lyrics. Most everything that made me love this band as a Christian and as father, who appreciated the postive messages for young girls in the lyrics, is gone. I will probably download the only good song on the album (Crawl), but sadly will not pay to see the band on the current tour or spend money on the new album.
