Legendary (Single) by Manafest Legendary (Single) by Manafest
Few songs can be upbeat and inspiring while also really rocking out. This one manages it all. The verses are the most rock, the choruses are the most inspirational- both lyrically and musically. Overall...
Help You Heal (Silverberg Remix 2020) (Single) by Manafest Help You Heal (Silverberg Remix 2020) (Single) by Manafest
This song is an incredibly beautiful and uplifting combination that is a perfect expression for this year (and any other that is proving hard for you). The music, Manafest's vocals, the ethereal guest...
Irwin's Christmas Collection EP by Matthew Irwin's Christmas Collection EP by Matthew
This album is short but sweet. The best track is "Mistletoe Meltdown"- one of the funniest Christmas songs ever made! The music is really good, the lyrics hysterical and the idea creative. If...

Disc Two: Fun Music | Posted October-16-2012
Well, Disc 2 of my favorite WOW CD really adds some fun, rockin' songs, as well as some soulful ones, to the mix.

You may like this disc better than disc 1 if you're more of a rock, hip hop, rap, or pop music lover than slower beautiful music. If so, you may particularly enjoy Stuck, Phenomenon, Love Peace and Happiness, Why Do I Do, and/or All My People. But for those who love slower, maybe more soulful music, you may prefer You Get Me, Getting Into You, or I Thank You.

Either way, there is definitely something on this disc for everyone- I personally like a lot of each of previous groups of songs.

Enjoying this CD recently did make me feel a bit stupid though- I've become a big Tobymac fan in the last few years, but I didn't realize I've had 1 of his songs for several years longer than that, and enjoyed this CD's Tobymac song Phenomenon for those years. If I'd looked more into his music after listening to this CD, who knows how much more enjoyment I could've had?

Just goes to remind you that these WOW CDs are here partly to introduce you to a lot of different artists you might not know to look into otherwise- if you hear someone you love on them, take advantage of the opportunity, learn more! So many great artists, so little time!

Disc One: Easy Beauty | Posted October-16-2012
This WOW CD- 2004- is my favorite of all time, I've had it since it came out and I think I will love it forever.

Disc One is mostly incredibly beautiful, cheerful songs, with a few incredibly beautiful, more bittersweet ones thrown in for good measure.

I love pretty much all the songs on this disc, but I think my favorites are Simple Things, Day by Day, Legacy, and Other Side of the Radio. Great music and singing with great messages and/or points to make.

This WOW CD is another great example of a CD with a ton of different artists to introduce you to with some of their best songs- or a CD with all of your favorite artists and songs of the year to listen to at once.

Beautiful Music | Posted October-02-2012
Beautiful, intricate music, stunningly beautiful vocals. I have to admit, the bittersweet combination of the 2 reminds me of one of my favorite quotes from my favorite TV show, "sad is like happy for deep people." This CD is not just beautiful, it feels so deep you just want to close your eyes and enjoy the beauty. A bit of a change from many cheerful yet somewhat shallow Christmas CDs- I really enjoy those too for a pick me up, this is just something different and special.

The slight exception in the CD is the very cheerful, funny, and relatable (not that the others aren't, this one is just more casual) Toy Packaging. Makes me smile and occasionally giggle with sympathy.

Overall, just wonderful, beautiful, and rather unique (in my experience) Christmas CD.

Laugh or Dance- maybe both | Posted October-02-2012
This has got to be one the fun-est and funniest cds I've ever listened to. If you need music that will make you smile, laugh, or cry- mostly from laughing, then these are the songs for you.

Even if you're not a Veggietales fan, if you're willing to give very eccentric songs a try, this may be the cd for you. Whether its upbeat music like "Pirates Who Don't Do Anything", multicultural tunes like bilingual "Dance of the Cucumber", or ballads like "His Cheeseburger", these songs don't just have laughs- they have style and beauty too.

So come listen- if you like to laugh, you won't regret it.

Christmas Fun with a Heart | Posted October-02-2012
Calling all Veggietale fans!

This Christmas cd was fun with a lot of funny songs- and it's neat when a cd tells a story as it goes along too.  So this cd is like a movie and a cd in one- without the visuals of a movie of course. It also has several truly beautiful songs, especially Junior Asparagus' solo "Was He A Boy Like Me", which is really beautiful and reminds everyone of the true spirit of Christmas.

Although it might not (or might, its a matter of opinion) be AS fun or funny as some Veggietales cds- especially at the beginning when many characters are obsessing about how high they get to appear in the tree chorus, all in all, its still a fun, funny, and beautiful cd worth a listen.

Partial Review | Posted September-29-2012

I got a book with 4 of Nathaniel Hawthorne's short stories (Haunting Tales), 2 of which are in Twice Told Tales. One is Dr. Heidegger's Experiment, which is about a man who discovers the liquid of the fountain of youth, and tests it on 4 elderly volunteers and a rose to discover whether or not he'd find it worth it personally. The other was The Minister's Black Veil, which is about a minister who 1 day starts wearing a veil over his face, refusing to EVER take it off- much to the confusion and discussion of his fellow townspeople; and the religious faith and reasons behind his mysterious decision and ability to stick to it.

All 4 of the stories I read by this author were suspenseful, mysterious, and had interesting thoughts to be considered during and/or after the tales were finished. Also, despite all the tales taking place in another century, the thoughts they raise, and indeed the plots themselves, would easily fit in today.

I read this book a few years ago; and I definitely want to track down and read the sequel(/s?). This book was suspenseful, intelligent, funny, had likable characters- it was just a really good modern mystery. The only criticism I have if that if you get easily creeped out, especially by, I'll try and be vague to not spoil anything, vermin, this may not be the book for you. Other than that, really awesome. By the way, there is a movie.
