The Pursuit of Holiness by Adriana The Pursuit of Holiness by Adriana
Holiness seems to be a topic that Christians often have difficulty dealing with. Sometimes this difficulty manifests itself in mistaken beliefs about earning salvation, sometimes in petty legalism and...
Captivating by Adriana Captivating by Adriana
Captivating was hugely popular amoungst Christian teenage girls when I was in highschool. It was passed around a lot in my bible study group at the time. Seeing there was a revised and updated version...

Rocking and real | Posted August-24-2007
This album has a bit more of a heavier sound than their first 2 albums which in my opinion is a good thing. It suits them well. The most surprising song musically is One More Round, a jazzy song about spiritual warfare. What makes this album stand out to me is the honesty in the lyrics. The girls are real about the Christian life sometimes being a struggle and not how we think it should be. Their message of hope in the midst of trials is one everyone should hear.

An interesting different direction | Posted August-10-2007
Given the big time gap between this album and her last one its not surprising the 2 are quite different. Her sound has matured quite a bit. This album doesn't directly mention God or faith although to me it seems like Beautiful Awakening is alluding to it. So simple deals with valuing the important things in life. Much of the album deals with the good and bad of romantic relationships. I Can't Give Up deals with the struggle to keep sexually pure. I applaud her honesty but it does get a little graphic in spots. Given these references and the prevalence of relationship songs this is probably not really for her younger fans of previous albums but older fans will probably enjoy this CD.

amazing | Posted August-10-2007
This album is already doing well in Australia and New Zealand, i predict the rest of the world will be hearing a lot more of it. Brooke's voice is beautiful but its her songwriting that makes this album shine. She manages to craft songs that are deep and spiritually themed without ever sounding preachy. There's way too many good songs to start naming favourites. Its well worth the effort to find a copy.

A great lot of mixes | Posted July-27-2007
Rather than just presenting new mixes for the sake of it that don't really suit the songs this project mostly does a good job of developing songs in new directions without losing what made them great in the first place. Live For You sounds brilliant as a dance track. The new arrangements of Blessed and savior song in particular work really well. My personal favorite is A Song For You, the new mix retains some of the dreamy ambient feel of the original but adds a bit more energy and interest. The only track i'm not sure on is Free which in my opinion has a bit too much rap and not enough of Rachael's vocals.

An interesting collection | Posted July-07-2007
Mix of life presents some interesting spins on some early songs from ZOEgirls career, the majority off the Life album. There are some great mixes such as the techno take on Even If. I would never have thought the originally very poppy i believe would work as a rock song but it does brilliantly. Unfortunately some remixes that had potential such as Plain and Ordinary day loose interest with long repetitive instrumental sections. despite that, it's still well worth the listen.

Good memories | Posted July-04-2007
This album takes me back a few years, back to the day when bright teen pop ruled the radio. This was one of the first christian CDs i brought and i still like to get it out and sing along occasionally. I believe and Little did i know still stand out as great songs. Theres some nice ballads too such as constantly. If you are a fan of ZOEgirls later work i suggest you check out some samples before you buy as their sound progressed quite a bit from this.
