Captured Again by Dan Captured Again by Dan
The production values on this release are more simplistic than Dan's later albums, but I was pleasantly surprised by how the excellent songwriting on some of the tracks really overcame any shortcomings...
The Listening EP by Dan The Listening EP by Dan
A short EP of works from Dan featuring 3 songs in total with the 4th track being a radio edit. I honestly didn't feel that any of the songs on this release really grabbed me or made me want to re-listen...
For You From You by Dan For You From You by Dan
This release is very worshipful throughout and entirely focused on God and our response to and wonder of Him. Dan has a unique voice that is pleasant to listen to, and the lyrics for this album are very...

Not one of my favorite Newsboys releases overall, but not too bad. I think this release could have been helped out a lot by a little more boost on the instrumentation as it sounds a little subdued and simplistic.  There are soem good arrangements overall but it could be helped by a little help in the production department. My favorite songs are "Everyone's Someone" and "You Say You Need Love".

This is essentially a single with the regular studio track, 2 remixes of the title track 2 remixes of some of the Newsboys other songs and an untitled rough track. Honestly there wasn't anything on this release that I thought made it worth picking up a copy. I still think the Newsboys deserve much better when it comes to remix versions of their songs.

There wasn't much on this release that really caught my attention of made me want to add it to my "to purchase" list. The only song that really stuck out to me on this album was "Shine" which I already have on a greatest hits release.

Not one of the Newsboys strongest releases, but reminds me a lot of the type of things that were being released in the CCM market in the early 90's. It's very nostagic to listen to in that sense, but musically it's not something that really compares to their later work. I thought the Petra style song "Not Stand Silent" was really interesting to hear as it really stood out in the mix.

A unique album in the Newsboys lineup that has a strong 80's feel/sound/vibe to it (even though it was released in the 90's). The overall arrangements, instrumentation and lyrics are a little on the simple side but this was common on CCM releases in the 90's. This album brings a lot of great memories with it's overall sound but not something I would listen to on a regular basis.

This release stands out as it starts with a strong hard-rock punch right out of the gates. By track 3 it gets more into an alternative/indie type of sound. The songs are catchier then some of the Newsboys later releases and this was a release where the music is at least not subdued with a huge mid-range seperation (as was common among many CCM albums in the 90's). Overall a pretty good release with quite a bit of variety.

Classic | Posted May-05-2011

One of my favorite Newsboys albums from their early work. All of the songs on this release have held up pretty well over the years and still sound good. There is quite a bit of musical depth with a lot of things going on in the backgrounds that gives it a great sound with some complexity.

Overall this isn't one of my top Newsboys releases. I like the tracks "Reality" and "Breakfast". The other tracks I just really didn't connect with and sound a little tired and lacking of any special spark or anything that makes me want to come back and play them again.

The thing that caught me about this release right off was the number of tracks that Phil Joel was signing on. This is honestly one of the Newsboys albums that I listen to and there really isn't a single track except for maybe "The Tide" that grabbed my attention or appealed to me. I am thankful that things got much better in their music as time went on.

Not something I would purchase...I tend to like the old classic standby artists for Christmas songs.
