FIRE & IVY is an American pop duo from Miami, Florida. Longtime best friends Aly Zelaya and Chelsea Fritchey grew up going to the same church and shared a love for music. In the spring of 2010, they began to write songs together.
Aly and Chelsea are passionate about using the talents God has given them to reach others with the gospel and to encourage fellow believers in their faith. This passion is what inspired their name: FIRE & IVY.
FIRE, when large and blazing, can be seen from far away. Oftentimes, it can be smelled even if it is not visible. Similarly, Aly and Chelsea want people to know, very clearly, that they are followers of Jesus Christ. "We want everything we do to show we are Christians," Chelsea says. "Not only in the lyrics we sing on stage - but also in the things we do off-stage: the ways we interact online, how we treat others in person, and how we live when no one is watching. We want the world to see Jesus through us."
IVY is often seen completely covering a wall. Aly and Chelsea want their lives to be so devoted to Christ, that He is all that can be seen. "There are so many themes and topics to sing about and so many stories to tell but our hope is that each song we write and each story we tell points people back to Jesus," Aly says. "Our goal is that, when people listen to our songs, they hear about Our Savior."
Both FIRE and IVY have consuming natures, and in turn, Chelsea and Aly want their lives and music to be completely given over to Jesus Christ.
Musically, FIRE&IVY hope to create songs that speak to their generation. "I'm a huge Christian Music fan, but I often have trouble finding artists who are making music similar to styles in modern pop music." Chelsea says. "With FIRE&IVY, we want to make music that people want to turn up when they hear it on the radio!" Aly adds "Christian artists like Britt Nicole, TobyMac and Plumb have been huge influences on us. We want to make music that is relevant."
"Music is a great way to introduce people to Christ." Aly continues. "We hope people will listen to our songs and like them enough to share them with their friends that aren't Christians."
"The message is all about Jesus." Chelsea concludes, "Our goal is to share Truth with our generation through music they can relate to."
