Band: MountainCity is a Colorado-based band with a singer/songwriter vibe and folk, pop, and country influences. Their live performances are a mixture of love songs they’ve written, along with classic love songs from artists like Keith Urban, Frank Sinatra, Al Green, Eric Clapton, Johnny Cash, Jason Mraz, Norah Jones, Lonestar, etc… Their story is one of love, loss, and adventure! They are tellers of love stories, and their musical art aims to create environments that restore the soul. They want to help stressed out people re-connect with love in fresh ways.
Dave Powers: Music is in my heart and bones (and so is this delightful woman named Tara, whom I have the privilege of being married to and best friends with… she is super BOMB)! I am a proud Dad of 2 sons. I got my first guitar for my 8th birthday, even though I was slaying a small ukulele and kitchen pots and pans earlier than that. Over the years, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed playing and singing in a variety of different venues around the USA and internationally: concert venues, fundraisers, corporate events, weddings, art galleries, festivals, and house concerts. I am endorsed by Grosh Guitars, 64 Audio, Franklin Straps, Shubb Capos, Stringjoy, and DG Custom Cables.
Tara Powers: I am ALWAYS singing, morning to night. I grew up in a very musical family and I’ve been making music from a very young age. And I love writing songs. It’s deep in me. When I am song writing, I like to be genuine and speak from my stories and life. I desire for the music we make to bring refreshment and inspiration toward love and life. I think Dave is… you know, the BEST (spoken with a Nacho Libre accent). I am a creative, a musician, a mom to 2 incredible boys, and a loyal friend.
Jon Powers: I have worked with many wonderful artists including Justin Timberlake, Matt Morris, Charlie Sexton, Danielle Ate the Sandwich, Ron Miles and 3ology and I’ve had the opportunity to perform on Late Night with David Letterman, The Ellen Degeneres Show and Lopez Tonight. I began studying drums at age 6 and grew up playing music with my family as well as participating in church and school bands. Currently, I work as a session drummer, as a clinician in schools and churches, and I offer private drum lessons in Longmont, CO. Playing in MountainCity is the fulfillment of a longtime dream reuniting with my brother and sister-in-law (Dave and Tara) to make family music.
Nathan Phillips: I am a Colorado native and enjoy all kinds of activities that our beautiful state offers, with my 3 boys and amazing wife, Megan. I’ve been a music lover as long as I can remember, and have always envisioned myself playing music ‘when I grow up.’ Trying out various instruments as a youngster, I received my first bass at age 14, and I haven’t stopped since! I studied music formally at U.N.C. in Greeley, and have had the privilege of playing with many different artists (Foolish Things, Dave Lemieux, Dave & Tara Powers, Audible Faith Project, etc.) at all kinds of venues across the USA. I am honored and excited to be a part of MountainCity!
Charles Ciepiel: I’ve been playing music for as long as I can remember. Making up melodies and figuring out tunes on our old upright piano in the basement – driving my Sicilian mama crazy! At age 13, I took my songs from the basement and started playing in clubs all over my hometown of Cleveland Ohio, and at age 18, I moved to New York City to pursue a music career in songwriting. I’ve had the privulets to playing music all over the world in front of thousands, including Europe, Africa, India, China and Japan. But, there’s no place I’d rather be than in the arms of my sweetheart for life, Jennifer (and our amazing 2 kids). I love the process of inspiration, creativity and assessment – and doing those things with MountainCity has been amazingly sweet! I have a passion to tell the world that love is worth fighting for!
