FUN AND GAMES
@jonsteingard: Broken down in Arkansas. People I don’t even know coming to our rescue. Random mom in minivan stopping and asking if we need food. (July 20)
There’s nothing quite like a little Southern hospitality when you’re in need. Hawk Nelson frontman experienced that firsthand on their way between shows this week.
@matthewthiessen: Spent the last few days with the traveling @owlcity camp. #goodtimewould be an understatement! (July 20)
Matthew Thiessen, lead singer for Relient K, spent some time out on the road with Owl City this week. This is far from the first time the two have collaborated (anyone remember the song "Fireflies"?), and their most recent writing collaboration “Good Time” has been tearing up the charts this summer.
@aaronkeyes: Glowsticks, meet the Holy Spirit. We are about to rave with 3000 students in the presence of God. http://t.co/yNyquqa3 (July 21)
Worship artist Aaron Keyes pulled out all the stops this week. In our dancefloor and dubstep dominated culture, it’s encouraging to see some things refocused for the glory of God.
@adamkronshagen: If we get 2 shows in a row cancelled cause of rain I will vow to never play another show in any city other than #SanDiego. #iconforhire (July 22)
Although merciless sun has been the story of most of this summer’s festivals, being rained out is hardly ideal either. This week several major festivals experienced some weather issues, but fortunately bands like Icon For Hire continued undeterred.
@rubenjuarez: TSA Agent: Can I ask why you're opting out? @schmeffo: Longterm side effects- & I don't trust anything that looks like darth vader made it. (July 22)
Tenth Avenue North opted out of the scanner and chose the pat down instead during their travel this week. Guitarist Jeff Owen had very valid reasoning to offer to the TSA agents.
@jrmeadkutless: Rave - (Pixar film about the youth of Europe) #removeoneletterfilms (July 22)
The Kutless guys took it on themselves to make the twittersphere a bit more interesting this week with a hashtag game renaming various movies, minus one letter. This was one of the gems from Kutless guitarist James Mead.
WORDS FOR COLORADO
Throughout the last days of the week a lot of artists shared their thoughts, prayers, and condolences in the wake of the tragic theater shooting in Aurora, CO. Here are some of the thoughts voiced in honor of those affected.
@TheRocketSummer: Heart hurts for Aurora. The Denver community is one of the best. Praying for you guys... (July 20)
@SAMESTATE: In disbelief after seeing the news and reading about the shooting in the Aurora, CO theatre. Hard to understand.. (July 20)
@MUTEMATH: I'm in disbelief hearing the news of what happened in CO this morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone out there today. -Paul (July 20)
@4kingandcountry: Today stands as a reminder to me that this world & it's people are busted. It's written on our souls, hope's what we crave. #theatershooting (July 20)
