The week also brought the usual helping of tour shenanigans and adventures.

A COUPLE DOVES

@karijobe: One more fun picture from last night..loved seeing everyone! :)@NatalieGrant @JasonCrabbMusic @kirkfranklin..http://twitpic.com/9c2i4b
(April 20)

The Dove Awards often serve as a kind of family reunion. Kari Jobe shared pictures with several other Dove Award winners of the evening.

@mandisaofficial: I was 1 of 24 artists on The Story, which won @GMADoveAwardsSpecial Event Album, so they split it evenly among us all: http://twitpic.com/9btw07 (April 19)

This past week was “GMA week,” culminating in the Dove Awards, commonly known as Christian music’s biggest evening. Mandisa was one of the artists present who won an award. Apparently she has come up with a solution for how to handle the amount of people who won this particular honor...

@abandonrock: On the red carpet at the Doves last night! http://fb.me/1z7u5E2qv (April 20)

Although Abandon didn’t take home the award for Rock/Contemporary album, they certainly took to the red carpet with style.

@Tedashii: Me at the Dove Awards in ATL. Got my grown man on. #teamtdot http://instagr.am/p/JsB7AXGOdp/ (April 21)

This year hip-hop was represented better than in years past. Tedashii was there along with fellow Reach Records rapper Lecrae.

@mikedonehey: These are my dove awards. http://instagr.am/p/Jsx5IuqhAY/ (April 21)

Although Tenth Avenue North took home the award for best Short Form Music Video, lead singer Mike Donehey still has his focus in the right place. There are some things that can’t be fully evaluated based on awards.

PROFESSIONALS

‏@chuviolin: i know my brain hasn't switched from road life yet when i thank the guy at the grocery store register for being here. #roadlife
(April 16)

At the very least, the cashier must have felt very appreciated.

@matkearney: 2445 miles 165 locations "SHIPS IN THE NIGHT" music video... http://vevo.ly/HUilZA (April 18)

This week Mat Kearney finally released a much-anticipated music video for his recent hit “Ships in the Night.” This may be the most well-traveled music video yet.

@TFKTrevor: So glad you're enjoying the album!! Spread the word, a few more days to push for top 20 on Billboard so we can give you 2 FREE remixes!!! (April 19)

Thousand Foot Krutch’s The End is Where We Begin has been making waves all week long, staying within the top 10 on iTunes for the first few days of its release and receiving an incredibly enthusiastic fan reception. Check it out here

@wavorly: All packed up and ready to go! #trailerless #justmakessence #NoDirectionTour http://instagr.am/p/JkgwJ0IS41/ (April 18)

Wavorly is out on the road with Satellites & Sirens and The Wedding for the No Direction Tour. Several years on the road seems to have equipped Wavorly with superhuman packing abilities.

@tenthavenorth: Tenth Avenue Roast aka making coffee and tea by the cup for the label folk http://pic.twitter.com/CY9hptBj (April 18)

Tenth Avenue North makes good tunes... and good coffee. For a look into what they’ve been brewing lately, see the picture above, but also the link to their new song, “Losing."

@scribblepotemus: Ill probably tweet some outdoor survival tips throughout the weekend. Don't worry I'm a professional...................musician. (April 20)

In honor of Earth Day, Jars of Clay lead singer Dan Haseltine took to the wilderness for a camping trip. Do you think this might have potential as a new reality series?

@johnny5w: It's 196 miles to Georgia, we got a full tank of gas, it's rainy… and we have no need for sunglasses. Hit it http://instagr.am/p/JrzUbKrymM/ (April 21)

One of the best (or worst, depending on your preference) parts of being a band is getting to be professional road-trippers. Relient K was out on the road again doing just that.

@jonnydiaz: Professional musicians know, we never get paid to sing, we get paid to be away from our families and put up with TSA agents (April 21)

There are some expenses musicians have to pay that you can’t put a price tag on.

REUNIONS

@lecrae: Humble beginnings. If you can't give your all with the little things, don't expect bigger things. http://instagr.am/p/JkMdpEjSYN/
(April 18)

Dove Award-winner Lecrae shared this glimpse into his past. He is truly an example of a servant who began being faithful in the small things and is now equally faithful in the great.

@kevinmax: stopped by officer not yielding at a stop sign, recognized & let go-Tait stopped by same cop later on- 'I'm just waiting for the other guy' (April 20)

Well, this isn’t exactly what we had in mind when we requested a DC Talk reunion...

@nickdepartee: Happy Record Store day. Go buy some music! 1 record that made me want to make music: Simon & Garfunkel "Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme" (April 21)

Saturday, April 21, was officially Record Store Day. Quite a few artists promoted the event on their twitters. Even with the undeniable convenience of iTunes, there’s nothing quite like having a physical copy in your hand.

@switchfoot: Record Store Day! Pick up #vicereverses at select stores. More touring! Spring Arbor, MI Friday; Edgefest and Rock the Desert in TX Saturday (April 21)

In honor of the occasion, Switchfoot released their new Vice Reverses remix album (featuring remixes from Darren King of Mutemath and Adam Young of Owl City) exclusively in record stores. Be looking for it online in May.

Mary Burklin is a college student who loves Jesus and seeks to echo His love in everything she does. She loves art in just about all forms, but music is her passion and where she feels most at home.
