This week in the Twitterverse, an unusual number of bands filmed or released new music videos, spreading the news through their followers. Meanwhile, other artists spent time hiding from (or chasing) the storms that rolled through the South.

Some months ago, Disciple shared on their Twitter that they were going to LA to re-record their single “Dear X (You Don't Own Me)” with famous producer Howard Benson, who has worked with bands like Skillet and Flyleaf. The new version released to mainstream rock radio, but it also available for purchase on iTunes or AmazonMP3.

Kings. They also went a little RT-crazy.

TORNADIC TWEETS
@timhoh: I love thunder and lightning storms with everything in me! Mother nature's a Maaaad scientist, Jerry! (April 27)
The massive storm system that brought more than 200 tornadoes through the South caused a variety of reactions in the Twitterverse. Tim Skipper of House of Heroes found it exciting, apparently--exciting enough to bust out a Seinfeld reference.
@mandisaofficial: Bad storms n TN. Was watchin my DVR when an emergency tornado warning interupted. This Cali girl will take an earthquake over this any day! (April 27)
Mandisa was significantly more conscious of the dangers that the storms caused. Side note: Didn't know that DVR could be interrupted by storm alerts...
@shaungroves: Tornado sirens are really messing w/our record making. Can someone turn those down a bit? Or put 'em in the key of C? (April 27)
Artist Shaun Groves found the sonically dissonant tornado sirens in Tennessee to be destructive forces all by themselves. He offers a good suggestion, though; these things can be tweaked.
@ethanluck: Yes!! I've been watching the local weather for a while and they finally said "tornatic" (April 26)
Multiple artists commented on the use of the unusual word “tornadic/tornatic”, including Ethan Luck of Relient K.
@chuviolin: just saw a list of people still missing in the Bham/Tusca. area... it's crazy. Over 50 ppl on the list, young, old, families... wild (April 29)
The storms proved devastating in Alabama, and Jonathan Chu (touring violinist for Skillet) was one of many artists trying to process it.
@castingcrowns: We'll B playing the Cullman County Faith Gathering tomorrow @ 7pm in AL. Donations will B taken 4 Red Cross Disaster relief. Y'all come out! (April 30)
Casting Crowns took a practical and encouraging step towards helping the victims of the Alabama tornadoes. They played a concert to provide comfort and raise support.
CREATIVITY
@mikedonehey: For my first day back I shall celebrate with a local honey & cinnamon latte from Fido. Then I'm going to take a bath in coffee. (April 25)
Easter weekend marked the end of the Forty Days of Water challenge in which many participated to support Blood:Water Mission. Mike Donehey of Tenth Avenue North was more than ready to celebrate.
@francescamusic: Real church sign in Johnson City, TN: "Hot outside? Try one of our Sundays." Oh boy. (April 29)
The approach of summer has inspired an interesting marquee message at a church in Tennessee. It might have been a little too much cheese for Franny.
@derekwebb: how is this even POSSIBLE?? http://twitpic.com/4r9tmp (April 29)
Derek Webb and several other bands currently out on
The Shelter Tour watched an eyebrow-raising movie titled
Titanic II. Derek provided a running update via his Twitter feed full of quotes and commentary.
@nickysixx: I can't believe it. @Kutless + @newsboys = getting busted for sneaking in to pet dolphins after hours. #rocknroll (April 30)
Newsboys and Kutless played at Sea World in San Antonio and apparently managed to get in trouble in the process, as Kutless drummer Nick de Partee reported here. We're hoping a photo or video surfaces of the failed operation.
