#6 - What's In A Name?
Christian artists update fans throughout the week via Twitter and NRT's Mary Burklin uncovers the best tweets of the past seven days in this weekly column.

A lot of names flew around the Twitterverse this week, as Christian musicians named new projects and new babies. They also got city names confused, and tossed around the names of quotable people. What's in a name? Read this week's round-up of memorable tweets.

As always, if you'd like to keep tabs on over 1,150 Christian artists, check out our exclusive NRTwitter page to read the latest tweets from the Christian music community.

SPRING IN THE STUDIO

@kutless: Working on some songs for a Christmas EP right now! About to start some drums soon... I'll post a pic! -James (March 21)

Kutless has been hard at work on their upcoming Christmas EP, their first project since their 2009 worship release, It Is Well. Stay tuned on Twitter for more updates on that.

@therealFools: Hello studio. We will be making magic together today. Are you ready? (March 22)

Rush of Fools is continuing work on their next release, their first album since 2008.

@switchfoot: Mixed: the war inside, the original, selling the news, the blinding light, afterlife, and restless. Can't wait to play em for you! -jon (March 23)

Switchoot's next album, Vice Verses, is very near to completion. As they get closer to the end, they have been updating Twitter more regularly. See @jonforeman's tweets as well for more on Vice Verses.

@philwickham: “@StevenABowman: @philwickham Does the new record have a title yet?" // 99% sure it's going to be called "RESPONSE" (March 23)

Phil Wickham revealed on Twitter this week that the title of his next album will be Response. The album is almost completed, according to other tweets, and will most likely be released in August.

@fallingupband: Update: Finished up recording and now we've got Josh locked in the studio mixing the thing! #yoursparklingdeathcometh (March 24)

Falling Up announced this week that the title of their upcoming release will be Your Sparkling Death Cometh--definitely one of the more creative titles this year!

REMIXED AND RERELEASED

@theletterblack: Hanging on by a Thread Sessions EP Volume 1 out today! Get it on iTunes now! Music video comes with full CD download. Spread the word!! (March 22)

The Letter Black released an EP containing previously released songs “Fire with Fire” and “Collapse" in addition to a remix, a few unreleased tracks, and the music video for “Fire with Fire.” It is a good deal for anyone who enjoys this up-and-coming rock group.

@skilletmusic: Skillet's "Awake And Remixed" EP Available Now! http://bit.ly/gasbth http://fb.me/DbXFqIEh (March 22)

Skillet released their digital Awake and Remixed EP on Tuesday. The EP revisits the first four tracks from Awake and rebuilds them with a distinct electronic flavor, reminiscent of Skillet's earlier work.

@DuncanPhillips: So stoked 4 u to hear the brand new 'Miracles Edition' of Born Again! 5 unreleased songs + 4 killa remixes! Drops April 5! 20 songs total (March 23)

Newsboys will be re-releasing Born Again, the record that redefined their sound. This release will contain an impressive collection of unreleased songs and remixes. You can preview the album this week only on NewReleaseTuesday.com

@IsaacDeitz: Filming a music video for @houseofheroes, don't worry, I'll tell you when it's done via spamming. #veryexcited (March 23)

Isaac Deitz, best known for his work with Family Force 5, shot a music video for House of Heroes this week. Be looking out for that within the next few months.

NEWS FROM THE FRYING PAN

@skilletmusic: Check out Skillet in Billboard! http://bit.ly/fPoHxx http://fb.me/NCXVu3sC (March 24)

In addition to the release of their EP, this week Skillet celebrated a number one single on the Active Rock charts ("Awake and Alive"). The song holds the distinction of being the only number one song in that chart's history to feature female vocals (drummer Jen Ledger adds her vocal talent to the song).

@jonathansalas: rocked out a sold out show tonight with the panheads! nervous, but things went awesome! (March 25)

Things have been particularly busy this week for Skillet. On March 25th they played their first show with new guitarist Jonathan Salas. Follow him on Twitter if you want to get to know him better!

DADDY TWEETS

@BartMillard: Miles Franklin Millard 8lbs 7oz Both are perfect. iPod roulette: "Cannons" by Phil Wickham #mm http://moby.to/lza7nb (March 21)

MercyMe lead singer Bart Millard and his wife Shannon welcomed their fifth child this week. They have already set up a Twitter account for him, @TheMilesMillard.

@JrfromDR: Eliza Grace Reedy is in the house! http://instagr.am/p/Cgj47 (March 24)

Josh Reedy of DecembeRadio also welcomed a new addition to his family. This is his first child.

@matthammitt: This might make you re-think... "Why do bad things happen to good people? That only happened once, and He volunteered" R.C. Sproul Jr. (March 25)

Matt Hammit (of Sanctus Real) shared this thought-provoking tweet regarding one of the most timeless questions of life.

TECHNOLOGY AND TRAVELS

@jonnydiaz: Saw Jeff from Tenth Ave at Panera yesterday. Instead of saying hi, he just texted me a picture of ME from behind. I was confused (March 23)

Technology adds a whole new dimension to social interaction. The effects can be both amusing and bewildering, as Jeff Owen demonstrated.

@NEEDTOBREATHE: On the agenda today: replace a few select words deemed "unrecognizable by all band members including the singer" http://plixi.com/p/86046380 (March 22)

There are some parts of the recording process that we rarely hear about. What happens when a singer doesn't enunciate clearly the first time around is one of them.

@Stephanaynay: Made it to Stockholm!!! In other news: I got proposed to by a flight attendant who looked a lot like Sean Penn. (March 25)

Stephanie Smith is overseas this week playing in Sweden. Apparently the experience has already been a memorable one.

@mikedonehey: Yep. Totally just called a crowd in Ohio, Pennsylvania. Apparently, theres a Grove City in both states. #knowingishalfthebattle (March 25)

Apparently years of being in a different state almost every day eventually has some side effects. (Side note: The two towns named Grove City are a three-and-a-half hour drive apart.)

Mary Burklin is a college student who loves Jesus and seeks to echo His love in everything she does. She loves art in just about all forms, but music is her passion and where she feels most at home.
