Thanksgiving is that time of year when we start indulging in turkey and reflecting on what God has done for us over the past year. It kicks off the Christmas season, beginning with Black Friday. But before we dive into the rush, let’s listen to a few songs that put us in a thankful and grateful mindset.
Brandon Lake -- “Gratitude”
I’ve been a huge fan of Brandon Lake’s song “Gratitude” for the past few years. I admired the soft version, but when he released the radio version, I really took notice. Brandon expresses overwhelming gratitude and thanksgiving to God in this worshipful love letter: “So I throw up my hands and praise you again and again.” He sings: “I’ve got one response/I’ve got just one move/With my arm stretched out wide, I will worship you.” I often think that “Gratitude” is one of the songs that made fans notice this singer’s passionate pieces.
Robert Hawkins – "Gratitude (feat. The Recovery Gathering Band)"
NRT Music’s Robert Hawkins covers Brandon Lake’s music masterpiece, adding a little bit of R&B flair. About the song, Hawkins says, “Thanksgiving, to me, is more than a holiday—it’s a reminder of grace, gratitude, and growth. Through my own recovery journey, I’ve learned that every day is a gift and that gratitude changes everything. It’s about reflecting on where I’ve been, celebrating how far God has brought me, and sharing that hope with others who are still finding their way. This season, my new single is a gift from my heart—a reminder that healing, music, and purpose are all worth giving thanks for.”
Big Daddy Weave – “I’ve Just Seen Too Much”
Big Daddy Weave shows gratitude for what they’ve witnessed—everything from God’s faithfulness to His goodness. “When it feels like everything has come undone/All I can tell you is I’ve just seen too much/Of his kindness/Too much goodness/Too much of his mercy/That always follows me.” Big Daddy Weave displays great passion in their ballads, and this one is no exception. I often wonder what would happen if I just walked away from God and tried to deny His existence. But I can’t. I’ve experienced too much of Him in my life—every tear He’s wiped away to every answered prayer. I’ve just seen too much.
Forrest Frank & JVKE – “Never Get Used to This”
Popular Christian pop artist Forrest Frank is one celebrity who truly lives his beliefs. He’s been at the center of controversy, taking a stand that he won’t attend award shows like the Dove Awards or the Grammys because he feels it takes worship away from Jesus. This passion also comes through in his song of gratitude, “Never Get Used to This.” In the song, Forrest thanks God for saving him and bringing him to the cross.
“I was stuck inside that grave a long time/Didn't think I'd make it through those long nights/But You're never late, You're always on time/Remember when You got me out of that? You got me out of that/And now I see Your blessings, see Your blessings every day/Thankful that Your kingdom's on the way.”
Naomi Raine – “Be Glad”
Naomi Raine and her piano show shades of gospel artist Cece Winans in this song of gratitude. You can hear a little bit of gospel in this live worship song. “I may not see/All that I've wished for/But all that I need/He provides for me/So I lift my voice/I lift my voice and be glad.”
Josh Grove -- "A Mighty Thanks" NRT Music artist Josh Grove gets vulnerable in his song of gratitude, "A Mighty Thanks"; "You love me when I'm torn and broken/You catch me then/My heart's wide open."His worshipful ballad focuses on Christ, expressing deep gratitude for His greatness and His constant pursuit throughout his life. It's definitely worth a spot on your playlist.
