NewReleaseToday is proud to celebrate one of its very own, concert photographer Chris Jackson, who has been honored with a prestigious 1st Place Prize in the non-professional Event Concert category at the International Photography Awards (IPA). Known as one of the most respected competitions in the world of photography, the IPA draws thousands of entries each year from across the globe, making Chris's win a remarkable achievement.
Chris's journey into photography began in 2011 at Creation Festival Northeast. What started as a week of music, fellowship, and time in God's countryside with friends sparked a curiosity that would soon grow into a calling. Encouraged by conversations with a close friend, Kirk, who introduced him to the art of shooting live bands, Chris began experimenting with a simple Canon point-and-shoot camera at Christian concerts. Those early attempts–alongside his deep love for live music–laid the foundation for what would become his signature style behind the lens.
In 2015, Chris stepped into a new chapter when he joined the Creation Festival photography team, armed with his first professional camera. Over the next decade, he steadily honed his craft–photographing countless live shows across both Christian and mainstream stages. His work caught the attention of multiple media outlets, and in 2017, he began contributing to NewReleaseToday, where his passion for capturing the energy and spirit of worship came fully alive.
Through years of trial and error, reinvention, and relentless learning, Chris built a body of work that reflects both technical excellence and heartfelt storytelling. That dedication culminated this year in his IPA award-winning submission, a milestone that not only recognizes his artistry but also highlights his perseverance. While Chris has previously received recognition for his landscape photography, this marks his first major award in concert photography–the genre closest to his heart.
Despite this achievement, Chris remains humble and forward-looking. "I still feel young and hungry as a photographer," he shares. "There's so much more I want to do, and I'm excited about the bright future ahead."
As part of the NewReleaseToday staff, we celebrate Chris Jackson not only for his award but also for the countless moments of worship and artistry he has captured through his lens. His journey reminds us that creativity often begins with a spark, but it's faith, passion, and persistence that transform it into something extraordinary.
