Provident Records singer/songwriter Seph Schlueter is an emerging artist to watch. His debut album, Counting My Blessings, features honest, biblically rooted lyrics that point straight to Christ. If you’ve been craving fresh, Christ-centered songs about trusting completely in God’s grace, his collection delivers—highlighted by standout tracks like “Counting My Blessings,” “Running Back to You,” “Won’t Start Now,” and “Turn It to Praise.”

Seph’s music consistently reflects the profound love of Jesus, highlighting His mercy and grace—gifts we could never earn—that fill our hearts with gratitude. Each song serves as a heartfelt expression of thankfulness, reminding listeners to trust entirely in the Lord.

If you’re seeking energetic, Christ-centered worship that combines uplifting melodies with meaningful biblical truth, you won’t want to miss this rising artist. I had the privilege of interviewing Seph about his joyful and catchy single, “Won’t Start Now.”

Please tell me the personal story behind this song.

I wrote this song drawing from my personal experiences and testimony. For me, the song took on new significance, transforming from merely witnessing God's faithfulness to viewing it as a lifeline during times of pain and uncertainty, such as when we had a miscarriage. Even in moments when praising feels impossible, this song serves as a reminder of the truth in God's word. I hope it offers hope and uplifts those struggling with doubt or feeling unloved.

Which Bible verses connect to the message of the song?

Psalm 91:2 (NKJV): "I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.’"

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV): “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

Philippians 1:21 (NIV): "For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain."

Matthew 11:28 (NIV): "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

John 8:36 (NIV): "So, if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."

Romans 8:31 (NIV): "What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”

John 1:12 (NIV): "Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God."

1 John 3:18 (VOICE): My little children, don't just talk about love as an idea or a theory. Make it your true way of life and live in the pattern of gracious love.

Ephesians 2:1 (NKJV): "And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins."

What is the takeaway message?

This song celebrates God's steadfast faithfulness, especially through tough times. It reminds us that God has never failed or abandoned His people and won't begin to do so now—even in challenging moments. I hope this song inspires listeners to trust in God's presence and love—even when they feel overwhelmed or doubtful.

Lyrics

I’ve never seen a morning the sun forgot to rise
In every single detail, You’re faithful every time
I’ve never lived a moment that You weren’t by my side
Cause You’ve never made a promise, turned around and changed Your mind

You’ve never left me in the cold
Never hurt me or let me go
You never have before

And You won’t start now
You won’t start now
I know I won’t be on my own
Whatever comes
You’ve never let me walk alone
Not even once
And You won’t start now

I’ll never be abandoned in the dead of night
I’ll never have to worry if I’ll be alright
I’ll never have to wonder if I’m on Your mind
I’ll never see a breakthrough come that isn’t right on time

You’ve never left me in the cold
Never hurt me or let me go
You never have before

And You won’t start now
You won’t start now
I know I won’t be on my own
Whatever comes
You’ve never let me walk alone
Not even once
And You won’t start now

You won’t start now
(Nooo)
Won’t start now
You won’t start now
Won’t start now
Not gonna walk away
You won’t start now
Whoahh
You won’t start now
Won’t start now
You won’t start now
Whoahh
Won’t start now

You’re gonna be there for me every night and day
You’ll be my shelter, You will be my hiding place
And I know You’re never gonna let me down

Down
Down

And You won’t start now
You won’t start now
I know I won’t be on my own
Whatever comes
You’ve never let me walk alone
Not even once
And You won’t start now

You won’t start now
Won’t start now

No you never let me down
I know I won’t be on my own
Whatever comes
You’ve never let me walk alone
Not even once
And You won’t start now

You won’t start now

Closing Thoughts

“Won’t Start Now” delivers an uplifting message that inspires a grateful attitude for God’s kindness. By trusting in the Lord's power instead of our own, we are strengthened by God's supernatural ability. He loves you deeply. Rely on Him, and He will give you strength.

This song reminds us that Jesus is the answer—the one appointed and anointed by God for our salvation. He is the only one capable of saving us and turning broken dreams into stories of joy. The good news of the gospel, which this song describes, is that God accepts us—no matter what we've done or what we’re going through.

The beauty of a song like “Won’t Start Now” lies in how these comforting words surround us and celebrate God's joy as He shares our stories. It provides a powerful image of His love for us.

When you listen to the song, let the thought of “You've never let me walk alone, not even once, and You won't start now” guide you to a place of worship. As believers, we need to take time to be encouraged to live out 1 Corinthians 9:22: “To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.”

Our personal stories about how this song connects emphasize the importance of sharing our grace-filled journeys. As believers, our strongest testimony is to share our salvation stories. This song celebrates the moment we were saved from sin and encourages listeners to reflect on and rejoice in their own salvation experiences. It’s about surrendering everything to Him, embracing His goodness, and allowing His blood to cleanse and flow through us.

I cherish how prayers and praise songs create a shared experience we all enjoy. I believe the Lord desires us to long for heaven and build a close relationship with Him. Once we are filled with the Holy Spirit, we develop a personal connection with the comforter and find peace that surpasses understanding, realizing that this fallen world isn't the ultimate purpose of our lives.

As His children, we are called to carry God's love wherever we go, trusting that His love accompanies us. I frequently reflect on and sing this song to God, and it consistently brings me comfort. This inspires us to sing, “You’ve never left me in the cold/Never hurt me or let me go/You never have before/And You won’t start now.” Amen to that.
