As a mom of two little ones, one of my favorite activities is reading books with them before bedtime. It’s a relaxing way to end busy days and something we all enjoy. Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, aunt, or uncle, here are four books from the past two years by Christian artists inspired by songs you know and love that you’ll want to read to a child in your life.
Little Lion Lungs – Brandon Lake
Co-written by contemporary artist Brandon Lake and his wife, Brittany, Little Lion Lungs is a story inspired by his hit song, “Gratitude.” It’s the story of a lion cub named Levi who learns the importance of gratitude and worship.
“We hope that this book will inspire your whole family to show your gratitude to God for all that He's done. We pray that nothing will hold you back, that you can throw up your hands, let your lion out, and sing out a hallelujah in pure, abandoned worship to the one, true King, Jesus." – Brandon and Brittany Lake
Little Lion Lungs can be purchased on Brandon Lake’s website.
I’m So Blessed – CAIN
“I’m So Blessed” is written by siblings Taylor Cain Matz, Madison Cain Johnson, and Logan Cain, who make up the band CAIN. The book, inspired by their hit song “I’m So Blessed,” teaches kids to sing about God’s blessings in every circumstance.
The story follows personified fruits, Tay-Tay Tangerine, Logo Lemon, and Maddie Melon, as they navigate their lives, face challenges, and discover that God is always with them, even during tough times.
Along with a children’s book, CAIN has also written We’re So Blessed, a 40-day family devotional to help families take the time to recognize God’s hand in their lives and how He blesses his children.

Sparrows – Jason Gray
Inspired by his hit song “Sparrows,” contemporary artist Jason Gray collaborated with children’s book author Jes Woller to teach kids that God loves and cares for them.
The story is about a young girl named Ellie who worries all the time. Things begin to change after she learns about how God cares for the sparrows.
Sparrows can be purchased on Jason Gray’s website.
Spring Sings – Ellie Holcomb
Contemporary artist Ellie Holcomb is no stranger to authoring children’s books. Spring Sings is the fourth one she’s written and was inspired by her song of the same name.
The book tells the tale of how the world awakens in the spring and retells the story of God’s son. It encourages children to delight in God’s gift of spring and to realize that each bird and bloom is a reminder that His love can make all things new.
Spring Sings can be purchased on Ellie Holcomb’s website.
Felicia Holt has been writing for NRT since 2024. She lives in North Carolina with her husband and children. She is a lifelong fan of Christian music and enjoys attending concerts and spending time outdoors with a good book.
