Rising contemporary Christian artist Anne Wilson is an artist to watch. She is on a mission to spread the love of Jesus through her music. Born in Lexington, Kentucky, the Christian singer-songwriter has lived a lot of life in her 23 years.
In 2017, Anne’s brother Jacob tragically died in a car accident. Her family couldn’t find anyone to sing at the service, so Anne stepped up and volunteered. During the service in front of 1,000 people, God spoke to Anne and told her that music and ministry were His calling for her. Anne put aside her plans to become a NASA astronaut and said yes to the Lord’s plan.
Anne is passionate about showing others that it’s about a relationship with Jesus, not about religion. In late 2017, a cover video of Anne singing “What A Beautiful Name” went viral on YouTube and drew the attention of music industry manager and executive Jason Davis. Over the next year, Anne gained recognition in the music industry as a vocal powerhouse, comparable to artists like Lauren Daigle, Ellie Holcomb, and Carrie Underwood.
By mid-2019, Anne started receiving several major record deal offers. Her debut album, My Jesus, is a must-listen, featuring the hit song "My Jesus" and follow-up singles “Hey Girl" and “Seventh of June.” Her latest release, REBEL, also includes tracks like "Strong" and “God & Country,” and it was my top album of 2024.
Anne demonstrates the passion and confidence of a seasoned artist. Her songwriting is authentic, uplifting, and heartfelt, and her upbeat songs wonderfully celebrate our freedom in Christ. Anne is a great role model for girls. Her songs have touched my daughters, and her biblically inspired lyrics reveal how true happiness and identity come from her relationship with God. I had the chance to talk with Anne about her new song “God Story.”
Could you please share the personal story behind this song?
My older brother, Jacob, my best friend and someone I admired in every way, died in a car accident at 23. When I lost Jacob, one of my favorite scriptures was Romans 8:28. I know this is painful, and I’m brokenhearted and depressed, but God can work this out for good during the tragedy.
God used that season to draw me closer to Him when he passed away. I felt God's presence for the first time and heard Him ask if I would trust Him. I answered yes, and God lifted the heavy weight of grief, promising to provide everything I needed.
I developed a deeper relationship with the Lord that I hadn’t experienced before. I fell in love with Jesus for the first time in my life. I realized that God was personally involved in my life and that my journey, though marked by tragedy, was part of a larger "God story".
I started journaling my experiences, and these writings eventually inspired me to write songs.

What is the takeaway message?
I co-wrote the song with Matthew West and Jeff Pardo. It reflects on how I have found strength and faith in God during that dark time, recognizing that God was writing a larger story in my life, even amidst the pain.
I hope the song will remind people that God is always working, even when they can't see it. I encourage people to seek God's presence in their own lives and to find hope in their own stories, even during challenging times.

Closing Thoughts
Sometimes Christians know facts about the Bible but don't live out God’s truth that the Holy Spirit is living inside of us. The beauty of walking by faith and not by sight is that we can trust God. As followers of Jesus, we understand that we can trust God's Word.
All we need is faith, and God will reveal what He has planned for us. He is the author of our lives and knows what is best for us, much better than we do. We are all works in progress. Have faith and let God work all things together for good.
The belief that all things work together for the good of those who love God isn't just a theory for Christians; it's something they know to be true. Faith in our freedom through the cross of Jesus is what God desires. We're free from our fears, addictions, insecurities, and perfectionism. Jesus came to die for us so that we may truly live in Him.
In today's culture, it’s radical for people to accept heaven’s entrance requirements—repentance and spiritual rebirth.
Are you letting God help you grow spiritually? Look at the fallen world around you. Lift your eyes to God. And put all your faith and hope in Him.
There is nothing more valuable than the salvation that we have been given. Take time to reflect on how thankful you are for the gift of Jesus and the moment He found you and saved you. Also remember John 3:17: "For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved."
Sometimes, you need to ignite your spirit and pray for a fresh filling of His Spirit. We should pray daily for the Holy Spirit to shine the light of Jesus through us. By filling your heart anew and singing along with this song, you'll discover the courage and enthusiasm to live in accordance with the Bible.
Be encouraged by the light of Jesus shining in all of us, grounded in our faith in Him. After accepting Jesus as your savior, you realize that living for this world isn’t your true purpose. As St. Augustine famously said, "Our hearts are restless until they rest in You."
No matter your worldview, we all need to remember that earth isn't our permanent home, and our freedom from this world's pain, suffering, and heartache will come when we enter the proper rest that can only come from living eternally with Jesus Christ.
