Summer went by quickly this year, didn't it? Although pool days and vacations may be over, for now, there's still so much to look forward to. Autumn is a great time to release new music, and there's a lot on the horizon from some of our favorite artists. From We The Kingdom to Ty Brasel, bands and artists are getting ready to drop some quality new tunes. Let's dive in and look at a few.
TobyMac - Life After Death (8/19)
It's been nearly four years since pop icon TobyMac dropped a new full-length album. But, by the time you read this, his new 15-track album, Life After Death, will be ready to stream on Apple Music and Spotify.
For the new record, TobyMac collaborated with some incredible artists, including Sheryl Crow, Zach Williams, Cory Asbury, and, believe it or not, Kevin Max and Michael Tait. That's right, dc Talk is back together (well, for one song at least). Four years was a long time to wait for this new album, but if we're being rewarded with a dc Talk song for our patience, I'd say it was well worth the wait.
Influence Music - Before The Breakthrough (8/19)
Influence Music is the worship band for Influence Church, located in Anaheim Hills, just outside Los Angeles, California. Relatively new to the music industry, the band released their debut album, Touching Heaven (Live), in 2018, followed by REBELS in 2019. In August, they'll release their third full-length album, Before The Breakthrough.
Like TobyMac's new album, this project features a significant number of collaborations. Artists like Mack Brock, Kim Walker-Smith, and Patrick Mayberry are all featured on the 12-track album. It's always encouraging to see artists working together on these big projects, and it'll be exciting to see how other worship leaders collaborate with Influence Music in the future.
Ty Brasel - Transcendent (8/26)
It's typical to see artists have two- to three-year gaps between their albums, but not pop artist Ty Brasel. He's been releasing music almost every year. In 2020, he released his album, The Divine Storm, followed by 2021's Destiny: Vol. 1. In August, drop yet another new album, Transcendent. His upcoming record, produced by Dirty Rice, Joseph Prielozny, and Juice Bangers, was a labor of love. The tracklist has yet to be announced, but with Ty's history of upbeat and powerful songs, I'm sure fans can expect another memorable album.
Rend Collective - Whosoever (8/26)
Folk band Rend Collective is no stranger to Christian music. In 2010, they released their debut album, Organic Family Hymnal, followed by hit albums, Campfire, Homemade Worship by Handmade People, and the more recent, CHOOSE TO WORSHIP. In August, the band drops their latest project, Whosoever. Rend Collective hits the road in the U.S. after the album drops. Even if you can't catch them on tour this fall, make sure you add their new album to your next playlist.
Chris Tomlin - Always (9/9)
In 1995, Christian music veteran Chris Tomlin launched his career with the release of his debut independent album, Inside Your Love. Since then, he's released hit after hit. His songs have reached countries all around the world, and they're sung in churches each week. Truly, he's become a legend in the world of worship music.
In September, he'll drop Always, his new album featuring his already popular songs "YAHWEH (No One)," and, of course, the title track, "Always." With all the success of Chris's previously released songs, I have a feeling that churchgoers will sing his new music in churches worldwide for many years to come.
We The Kingdom - We The Kingdom (9/16)
TobyMac, Rend Collective, and Chris Tomlin are all names we've heard before. But there are some new bands and artists who are rising up in the ranks, including the family band We The Kingdom. Comprised of producer/songwriter Ed Cash, his two kids, brother, and family friend Andrew Bergthold, We The Kingdom enthralled the world with their pop and worship-driven songs when they released their debut album, Holy Water, in 2020. They quickly gained a huge following and fan base, as well as a shoutout from pop artist Justin Bieber.
In September, they'll release their latest record, We The Kingdom. The self-titled 13-track album features their recent singles "Left It In The Water" and "Miracle Power," alongside some new tracks like "Jesus Does" and "Life Is Good." The past two years have already been exciting for We The Kingdom, but I'm sure this is only the beginning.
Blanca - The Heartbreak and the Healing (9/23)
As a writer, I know full well that writing about your hurt can lead to healing. That seems to be true with singer/songwriter Blanca as well. Her new album, The Heartbreak and the Healing, drops on September 23, and–as the title implies–it was written out of a place of heartbreak. She went through a painful divorce but come out of it stronger than ever before. These new songs reflect that.
The 14-track album is raw and vulnerable yet displays the strength Blanca had through Christ even during a difficult season. Vulnerability in Christian music is something that we need to see more of, and I hope that The Heartbreak and the Healing paves the way for other artists to get honest in their songs.
SEU Worship - Heart Cry (9/30)
SEU Worship isn't your typical worship group. The band was born out of a worship movement that started on the campus of Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida. The group calls their unique sound "prophetic pop."
SEU Worship released their debut album in 2013, and since then, they've released dozens of songs over multiple records. On September 30, they'll add another album to their quickly growing catalog with their latest 13-song project, Heart Cry (they'll also release live videos for each song). If you're looking for a new worship band to jam out to, look no further than SEU Worship.
Social Club Misfits - Everyone Loves A Comeback Story (9/30)
It's been nearly two years since hip-hop duo Social Club Misfits released their last album, Feared by Hell, but they're back in action. On September 30, they'll release their newest album, Everyone Loves A Comeback Story.
Like some of their previously discussed albums, Social Club Misfit's new project features a lot of collaborations. Their first single from the album, "Who That Is," features DJ Laz, and upcoming songs feature other artists like Ryan Ellis, Jordan Feliz, and Evvie McKinney. With so many amazing artists working together lately, it truly is an amazing time to be a Christian music fan.
Josh Baldwin - Where The Glory Is (10/21)
Most commonly known for his hit single, "Stand in Your Love," with Bethel Music, Josh Baldwin has become a popular artist in the worship music circle. In 2008, he released his debut independent album Changing and joined Bethel Music in 2014. From there, he released music with Bethel as well as some solo albums, including Evidence, in 2020. Now, he's ready for another solo outing.
Earlier this year, he released his latest radio single, "There Is Freedom," a precursor to his upcoming album, Where The Glory Is. The 11-track record is slated to release on October 21, featuring new songs like "Still Standing (featuring Patrick Mayberry)," "Resurrection Day," and "The Power Of His Love."
No matter what genre of music you're into, there's something for everyone coming out this fall. I wish you a blessed and peaceful fall ahead, filled with lots of amazing new music.
